| Any advice on the "crank angle relearn" procedure? This question is not specific to my Riv, as I have a Park Avenue that I will be replacing the Powertrain Control Module. Thanks. | |

This question is not specific to my Riv, as I have a Park Avenue that I will be replacing the Powertrain Control Module. Thanks. I have the FSM procedure, but it requires the GM Tech II scanner/programmer... Do you have anything similar?

| I have the OTC monitor 4000 scanner, which is a year older than the car. I can not find anything in the manual for this scanner that lists the procedure. Some place I read about a series of specific directions to reset the ECM while driving. I can't find where I put this info. | |

I can not find anything in the manual for this scanner that lists the procedure. Some place I read about a series of specific directions to reset the ECM while driving. I can't find where I put this info. Directions to do the relearn without a Tech II are in the service manual. If you can get your hands on a Tech II the following should help https://www.gmforum.com/howto/1998SM/computer%20relearn%20procedures.pdf There is also this for a relearn without scanner - I think this next post is (in general) the scannerless procedure in the manual, BUT you really need to refer to the PA manual: https://www.totalcardiagnostics.com/support/Knowledgebase/Article/View/99/0/crank-relearn-instructions-with-and-without-an-obd-scannerreader
