| I thought so, just wanted to clarify that. I live less than 5 miles from there. When are you going to be there? | |

| It's a possibility. I don't have anything to run, but I like going as a spectator. No plans for Sunday at this point, I'll talk to the wife and see if she wants to go with me. I'll post here by Saturday night with a definite answer. | |

| Just talked to the wife, and we'll be there. I'll look for your Riv. And I'm the strange looking guy with really long red hair and the gorgeous blonde on my side. | |

| I guess it worked out then because we had a couple things came up and we weren't able to make it either. Anytime you head over to Edgewater, let me know because I live right by it and I can be there in under ten minutes. | |

| Looks great Eric! I still think you need to do an article for the Riview, Ray said he is always looking for Members Showcases for the '95-'99 but just doesn't get hardly any. Looks GREAT! | |

| This has to be one of the sweetest looking vehicles I've seen in quite some time. I'd be scared if I saw it coming up in my rearview. | |

| Lol nice choice on rubber. I have the identical tires, you following me around? What are you hiding in the trunk? Hopefully, for my sake its just a dead hooker, and not whats in mine (no dead hooker).
Seriously tho nice car m8. Black on black is the only way to roll imo.

| Eric, With the shaved handles, antenna and trunk lock and everything else you've done it is one Pristine Riviera. I think you should consider the bumpers that sqrivi has had made if they will fit with your intercooler up front. If they will, that would be the crowning touch. | |

| Well after a horrible '09, I decided to take a break and do something I haven't done since college and take a long road trip to break in '10. Unfortunately I couldn't get a co-pilot so I went solo but it turned out great. Saw several friends I haven't seen for as many as 5yrs.
The Riv was my chariot . For a Christmas present, my family covered my fuel bills which was nice. It started Jan 1st and ended late tonight after covering 1684 miles and 24hrs driving time. Plainfield (Indianapolis) IN is where it began, with a stop over in Starksville (Meridian) MS, then on to Newnan (Atlanta) GA, finally wrapped up with a long drive back to Plainfield.
The entire drive was with clear blue skies ableit a litte cold (between 16* when I left to a high of 38* during the day in MS). Traffic was at a minimum up until today from ATL. Construction was nearly non-existint which was nice for a change.
My best MPG between stops was my initail leg with 19.78 with the worst being after a very spirited drive through the mountians North of Chattanooga on route to Nashville where I just skimmed over 15 MPG. Not too bad for what she is pushing with. I usually cruised at 80mph- 10 mph over the posted limit which was 70 mph the majority of the time. There was of course a few spurts that well exceeded that including a couple needle burying runs.
Highlights other than reunions with friends, hitting on all the pretty (and seemingly way too young) MSU girls, watching bowl games, eating over 1.5 lbs of grilled (even tho it was cold outside) serlion with THE best sauteed mushrooms ever, include...
A nearly flawless run of the Riv from start to finish. The only issue that popped up was a squeak/rattle turning to the occasional clunk from the pass rear which I suppose is only a broken sway bar link or failing shock mount. Both are easy repairs and I suspect the latter. It occasionally happened before but has become much more apparent. It probably got worse or failed during my mountain run. Talk about the adrinaline pumping!
I was in a group with a (mid '00 before the latest body style) BMW 525 and a new M class Merc who's owner earlier had given my a big nod after giving the Riv a good go over. He had sped up after I passed him to get a better glance. Made me feel really good to get approval from someone who spent 4x as much on on his crossover. The three of us blasted up over and back down the mountain pass well in excess of the limit and were turning out the corners. Even at 90 mph + the Riv felt glued to the road and I knew at any moment I could leave these two behind (more so from my power than the 5 series handling). Once back on level and straight ground I slowed down. These guys obviously had the money for a speeding ticket- I did not.
On the run down to MS, I did get challanged to a race from a older (maybe late 90's to early '00's) two door Caddy which was halarious. The guy was older and nice enough but I don;t think he understood what he was getting into. He eventually chased me down after a couple of miles and gave me the thumbs up. That was my only race although I did try to insinuate several with several Mustangs, a Camero, and a new 'Vette convertible but with no luck.
No speeding tickets, rock chips, or dings. Just a great time enjoying a finely tuned supercharged equipped lazyboy eating up highway...
