as long as yer oil pan comes with 18grand in unmarked bills in it LOL, thats about right.... It looks like someone splooged on one of the pistons already lol yeah each piston had the sperm marks an interesting thing... his mid 04 casting block (05 L32) has the skirt coated and thermal barrier pistons while i have an 04 9C1 L36 (late 03 block casting) that has the steel pan , plastic UIM and L26 rods but with just anodized pistons... i'm wondering if the 9C1 cars may be an exception with the PM rods... i've had another 04 (mid 03) L36 that doesnt have the PM rods... who knows maybe it was a bin vs bin crapshoot for which engines got which parts...?!

| Actually legitimate question time...
How well is that pulley going to fit into that bracket that holds the engine... it seems like theres not much room for a wider belt there.

thanks man its been pure sex putting it together and tearing it apart over a dozen times to get all the engine specs/clearances/mods dead on, hell i've uncovered even more in my research (aka a modified plastic windage tray/pan gasket is more effective than the alum pans integral windage tray, worsening machining tolerances on later engines, oiling mods, etc) but finally the short block is together for the final assembly! eric's getting so anzious to drive his car that he may hold off on the cog belt drive till winter when the dry sump oiling system is ready, and the riv's out of the salt for its second winter storage/build lol this weekend was mostly working on the 442's new front trans (the riv's old 160k 65ehd) right now its in (with a new 3250 stall!) and the engine's back in but right now i have to sort out axles. right now i'm stuck since awhile ago we got reman axles for the 442 and the balls in the outer CV were .030 larger than the OE balls so i got screwed and cant throw together the 65 spider (larger shaft spline than 60e/1st gen W) with the 1st gen W's outter tulip... i'm confident that if the 2nd gen W axle shafts are too long i can cut new snap ring grooves and make em smaller. so i need to get a pair of 1st gen OE outter tulips from the Jyard, yay for setbacks... we'd almost buy reworked axles but we're cheap bastards lol btw your build thread idle vid sounds badass! and i noticed youve got trans info, got any tidbits fer me?

sorry i just havent had time to upload em... TB plenum has to come down 1.5 inches at the TB, tomarrow morning (today lol) we go to the Jyard for some misc parts...goona try to use the W body AC bracket with an AC delete to use a drivers side F body engine mount with the G body front trans shell with our modified K car bushings. i have a damn good hunch it goes together pretty damn well lol i'll try guys...looks fucking sexy with the 80e in there! built like a tank heheh

| well the drivers side F body mount doesnt work too well the bolt ends up directly over the forward edge of the front lateral bar of the subframe...if we left it AC deleted we could use a poly bushing with a steel plate to secure it to the subframe... but we wont... the latest hot weather helped me change eric's mind on deleting the AC so i will be fabricating the new mount to use the 3 block bolt holes and to tie into the alum oil pans bolt holes with two ears that will bolt the the modified G body front trans mount with K car insert but rotated 90* towards the rear of the car, this will let us have full belt access, full oil pan access easy engine removal and with the use of the W body AC bracket...we can keep the AC PICS!!!!!! dont mind the crap front VC those are the "dont give a shit" install VC'rs to protect the valvetrain... BTW i reworked the wiring harness... next time its together there's only 9 wires along the front of the engine (inj wires and ECT) the wires for the AC compressor, starter solenoid, front KR sensor, oil level sensor, etc were re-routed down the rear of the engine with the normal path of the VSS, oil press sensor, PS switch, etc wires, and runs under the engine to the front lower accessories/connectors. it should show ALOT more neked skin/sexyness now! sharp eye's will notice the windshield tank thaqt now has the coolant tank cap and functions as such, a bottle cap is the fill cap of the washer fluid which is filled through the OE hose that did go to the upper resevoir. we need something prettier lol talk about a sleeper...all the $$ is in the engine, fuel system, and trans lol btw the cog belt setup is gonna hold off till later... right now the 8 rib setup will go on... FAST racecar!!!!!!!!!! it has to be lowered and angled more foreward to clear the new 99+ maf housing and let us fit as big of a K&N filter as we can... a big thanks goes to eric's granny for holding the TB lol right now the plenum clears the hood fine, but the TB sensors hit it...sigh... oh well its only more work heheh | |

| i removed most of the ABS computer housing to make it a nice mounting point for the AEM inj driver converted the DMH cutout to manual cable operated (more room and now it can go at the bottom of the header downpipe without worry!) (btw eric took the motor out over a speedbump...way cheaper than a new motor/gearbox lol) Got fuel? highly mod'd fuel sender for weldon 2035 pump (-12 suction -8 return) hey guess what you can rework the OPE harness enough to give tons of room and a much nicer looking engine | |
