| usually it's the sign of a dying wheel speed sensor. Eventually it will stay on all the time.
Mine started coming on after going through a puddle, and eventually graduated to on all the time. Time for new wheel bearings... 143K is a good amount of miles on the stockers. Usually people start reporting WSS issues around 120K

| Now I took mine to the freakin shop and they charged me a $100 to tell me I need a new EBTCM.
How do you tell if a wheel speed sensor is bad? Because a new EBTCM is over a grand and not worth having. But a new wheel speed sensor from e-bay is $90..

I had a problem on my '95 and it turned out being a corroded connection, but I would take a look at all of the connections.

| Mine's a 96. I've taken each hub plug and greased it a couple of years ago.
My light always goes on about 15 seconds after running. However, sometimes I can go miles without stopping and it stays off. But when I start again, 15 seconds or so later, the light goes back on.
I know it doesn't work even with the light off, in the snow I would purposely try to spin the wheels...no traction control at all....

| You are losing a Wheel Speed Sensor. You'll be replacing the entire hub to fix it. I recommend doing both, because if you don't you'll be doing the other side next year, plus you don't have to pay somebody to hook up an ABS capable computer to find out which side is gone. | |

| My light stays on too...
When I first start the car in the morning, the light is off.....then a few minutes later the light comes on.
If I go on a long road trip, 300 miles or so.....it turns off and I can turn it on and off via switch...then when I return to my normal routine the light turns on again....
I think when I get my PCM I'm just gonna have them turn off the traction control....

| yah i have a "snap-on brick scanner" too, that will definitely pin point the problem. if you're close to the st. louis area i'll scan it for you. if not, then you might wanna check your abs wires to the wheel sensors themselves and also check the abs/traction control pump. then there is also a an abs module and traction control module. take it to the dealer and pay the $100 to have them find out the problem. | |

| would help to know what year and stuff your car is. Please add that info to your signature.
Usually it's a wheel speed sensor, which means a wheel bearing needs to be replaced. Unfortunately you need someone with an ABS scan tool to pull the code.

| Usually it means a wheel speed sensor is shot, which is a preindicator of wheel bearing failure. If you find out which wheel it is, then replace the bearing (sensor is included in the bearing). Need the code read by an ABS specific scan tool. | |

| There should be a sensor for each wheel. I bougt one for the rear of my '96 a couple years ago and it was $180 so you'll probably want to get it scanned first to see which one is bad. | |

| yah i agree with Derek. the problem is normally found where the wheel sensor hooks up. if you can jack up all four wheels with the tires off so that you can look at each sensor. you could also have a busted up outer cv boot thats leaking grease all over the sensor. if thats the case, then you will have to clean off all the grease with a good degreaser, and replace the half shaft. you will have to find sumone with a scanner that is capable of testing the abs system. NOT ALL SCANNERS CAN!
the tract light is tc light is on because the abs light is on. once you fix the abs light then the tc light will go off.
