Crank Position Sensor Empty
PostSubject: Crank Position Sensor   Crank Position Sensor EmptySat Oct 27, 2007 5:44 pm

Replacing the crank position sensor on my 1995 Riv 3800 supercharged. Is it true you need a tool for get the adjustment/gap correct on these engines that only GM has?

Anyone replaced a crank sensor on these engines? Any tricks once you are ready to bolt it in? Thanks

i replaced one on my 96 and the only tool i needed was a puller to remove the harmonic balencer. you're suposed to get a CASE learn after replacing it but most never do or need to. (you should get a code if you do need to).
the only tips i can give you are
1. you will need more force than an air gun can provide to loosen the crank bolt. so use a breaker bar, leverage, and bump the starter over until its loose.
2. dont use too much thread lock on the torque to yield bolt bonk

Crank Position Sensor Empty
PostSubject: Re: Crank Position Sensor   Crank Position Sensor EmptySat Oct 27, 2007 11:47 pm

I believe my crank sensor is bad. I have no spark and no injector pulse/12 volts at the harness.
My Snap On Scanner showed no rpm's when I cranked the engine over. That pretty much points to a bad crank sensor.

Anyone have a crank sensor go bad and if so, did you experience a no start and no fuel/12 volts to the injectors?
