| So I pulled a code from my 96' with 155K on it. It read P1406-EGR Valve Pintle. Anyone ever have this come up and if so how did you remedy it. I put in a different egr valve that I had lying around and the light still comes on. It might be another bad egr valve though. Is there a way to test it? | |

| there is one on the rear valve cover in front and one in gaz tank up front it put gaz fumes from tank in engine when dead, engine tend to run lean one in rear to eqwalize tank pressure with atmospherical pressure(this one goes to the front building pressure then to the engine at acceleration)The front one is easy fix but the rear one you'll have to remove gaz pump from trunk then drop the tank (pain in the ass).Good luck | |

| Not sure what you are talking about. There is only one up by the rear valve cover on my 96. My factory repair manual mentions nothing about a EGR valve in the gas tank. | |

| I did find that the rubber elbows that connect to the throttle body were cracked so I fixed them hoping it would take care of the problem but no luck. Still searching for a fix before I drop the $150 on a new egr. | |

| I guess I just joined the EGR club! Mine popped up the other day and I went to AutoZone, and they told me it was the EGR valve. I went to one of the boneyards but they told me the valve was only found (for a 1997) on a 1997 Riviera NA and an Aurora. So now I have to hit the other yard because paying $163.99 at AutoZone isnt an option! | |

| Maybe you have a bad ground or problem in the wiring harness. Closely inspect your wiring harness near the firewall connector for cracks and broken wires. | |
