| It's my fault, I left the injectors where a child could get a hold of them while I was working on the car, she did, and broke the pintle cap when it fell.
Will the injector still work without the pintle? Can I get just the cap? Any Idea where?
Thanks. | |

| Although I have heard you can run without the pintle,(don't quote me on it.) you can get any parts you need from www.mrinjector.us pretty cheap. _________________ | |

| yap. it wont hurt anything.make sure you remove the o-ring so it wont fall into the engine if there is one right there. | |

| Awesome, both the O-Ring and the other plastic bit? Or just the o-ring? | |

| OK. i just looked into this a little further. Running the injector without the pintle is not advised. without the pintle, the o-ring has nothing to hold onto.it will slide into your manifold. the o-ring to the fuel rail is the most important of the 2. without that one, fuel will spray all over your engine.BAD! without the pintle o-ring you will have a nasty air leak to the manifold.you can still limp about with a missing pintle cap,but I suspect the car might not run very smoothly. sorry, didnt mean to mislead you with my first post, been awhile since I sorted out my fuel delivery probs.... mr.Injector.com,is your best bet for new caps.I bought my kit from them for around..$20 bucks or so...give or take.. | |

Thanks. ...suggest you go to a larger auto parts store and get *one* injector to replace the banged one; you can sort out the other issues later. ...and a note to the rest of you -- **never** leave anything in reach of a small child that (a) can not be used as a toy by them (b) will harm them if put in mouth. Reach includes aided by nearby/movable stool, chair, pillows or what have you. Ever. This is not a scold - just a reminder that I wish I'd had as I was raising my kids, had no serious mishaps but near misses for sure. Peace out. Albertj

| True that Albert, and it was a lesson well learned, years ago. I should have pointed out, she's well past the age of putting things in her mouth. She actually put it in a pot she pulled out of the cupboard and was busy "Cooking it for Daddy."
Now to find an injector, the local parts places want $200 for one, and I hate buying stuff from the internet. Being in canada makes it more frustrating.
What other cars used these injectors? Could I get on off of any Mid 90's GM or would it be specific to the supercharged 3.8s.

| You can get it off any car that had the 3800 S/C engine. you will need to get an entire injector out a junked car.the pintle alone will not come off without breaking. there has to be someway to find a used injector around your way right? | |

Sure, and to Canada you're looking at double that. (I checked) Other than the wreckers, there isn't anyway to get them locally, not at a decent price. I live in a fairly small town.

THey are cheaper (~$150.-) at the dealer (in the US). GMPartsDirect only wants US$82.- for a new one. The injector in a cooking pot is just plain *funny.* RockAuto's a good bet for that injector if none of the wreckers in your vicinity have any. Even though they are on the internet. I'm sure you'll get this squared away.

| Car parts are crazy expensive in Canada. - robotennis61 wrote:

there has to be someway to find a used injector around your way right? To clarify, any 3800sc from 94-95. The others are 32lb injectors, the 95 uses 29lb injectors. Trevor, I have a full set of 6 injectors that I got with a supercharger. You can have all of them if you want. I've never run them, so I dunno how good they are, or you might be able to try salvaging a pintle off one. If you PM me your address I can ship them to you. (or as said, could get parts from mrinjector.us pretty cheap. Or even just ship them all your injectors to get rebuilt for 14$ each. I had the main set on my car sent in for a rebuild and have been very happy with them. Very fast turnaround time. _________________
