| I think my setup sounds great if you like a little noise. At idle it is fairly quiet until you get on it then it's louder than hell. I get drone at 50-55 then when it kicks into OD it gets quite again. No rasp unless you have it in neutral or park and rev it. | |

| i honestly cant even tell a difference in sound after replacing manifolds with headers and deleting the cat.
I could be wrong, but I swear the only noticeable difference is when boosting....the S/C actually sounds louder. In theory it should be making less boost, but maybe its due to the intake taking it more air now that the exhaust system is less restricted.

| 3.0... only in normally aspirated applications is it recommended to have a 2.5. | |

| what does anybody think about going out back and cutting off the stocker mufflers and putting on some glass packs, i think you would gain a little volume and some tone, and hopefully the packs would snuff some of that nasty high pitched crackle, which to me is the most annoying part of exhaust on a 3800 | |

| Uh wow, that's actually the one part I think sounds cool. There are several nice cars that have some cool sounding backlash to them.
Someone else has already done the glass packs though. Do a search for them, there are some videos up as well.

| ok time for exhaust. im running a open cat(pipe going right thru) but hears what i want. i dont really want loud. like harly loud exhaust. i want a smooth tone but not loud unless if i really get on to it.like on a scale 1-10 for loudness, 10 is open down pipe. im looking for like a 4-5. for just normal driving.cops around hear can, well they are assholes. so i want a nice smooth semi quite sound. and i dont have the cash for a cut out right now. which mufflers would you suggest
also im going to be running 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust tubing
Ewolfe how about a idle video, and a 2500 RPM drive by video please man

| Corey, I think I've seen tips that look just like that before. I'll try and find the link for you. I'd be careful with "mufflers" like that though, people do call them Magnaturds...
Here ya go! (Link) These weren't exactly the ones I was thinking of but they look like what you were going for.
Here are some more I found: Ractive Oval Exhaust Tip Another Ractive but this one is a little wider I think

| Save your money. The case length is only 12.5". They will sound terrible, especially if you don't use a resonator.
If you get enough flow, your choice will mostly boil down to the sound you are looking for. Are you going for dual 2.5 or single ? Will you be using a resonator ?

| Dual as in from the headers back true duals? Has anyone actually done that on a 3800 Series motor? I thought all the headers always came back into one big pipe all the way back and split into duals at the end. | |

| Pacesetters have the crossover come into a Y , leaving the possibility for true duals , though i've never seen it done. | |
