White walls! Where did they go!?

About a month ago I was browsing around on here and there was a pic of a riv with white walls and a yellow stripe I believe, and now I can't find the post. If anyone knows where or if you have the pic I want to check it out again... I'm a big fan of fatty white walls and am in the market for a new set of tires... thanks!

My tire preference for white walls are vogue tyre.... i loved them on my brothers caddy and think theyd look good on a riv too.

joey...i know which riv ur talkin about....they were the vogues. they were so sweet....id love to have them if they werent so expensive.....theres a guy by my house who has vogue tires on his riv same color as mine...looks great

You should try to get pictures of that riv on vogues... i want a set bad but probably will just go with firehawk wide ovals since ive heard good things and theyre cheaper. i sprayed some tire cleaner foam on my tires the other day and noticed how good the whitewalls look on it.

You might suspect that whitewalls are making a comeback. I am not so sure about the "comeback" stuff, but I am sure that relative to other ways open to you to distinctively decorate your car, they are not all that pricey (except the Vogues and Avons).

Back before the 1930's, tires were white or tinted (gray or tan). You may not be aware that early tires were built up from strips of rubber and fabric cured in moulds. To make a long story blissfully short, the body of tires were white and the black came from a black strip of rubber that has been mixed with carbon black ash in order to increase the durability/serviceability of the tread. As for me, I'm thinking about raised-white-letter tires, but the ones I am aware of do not necessarily have a functional tread design. I think something like a touring tire with a quiet highway/summer/rain (not really all-weather) tread with simple raised white letters would work for me. Has to be a great summer cruise tire. Don't want pretty tires that perform crappy.

I've got the diamond white riv and was pondering getting thick white walls and maybe taking the grey stock wheels down to a paint shop and doing a very glossy black for contrast with the white walls. Kinda risky but might pay off?

Vogue Custom Built Radials, Wide Trac Touring, and Premium allseason IIs come in right size/ratings. On tire-finder web sites just look for tires to fit the 16" rims on a Cadillac DeVille. You'll find 'em. Not marketed for the Riv, apparently.

I had vogues on the stock chrome rims on my pearl riv and I thought it looked great. It was just some work keeping them clean. If they looked dirty it killed the look of the car. I have goodyear triple assurance on it now afte I killed the vogues. They were $200 plus each to replace new.
