| Today I dropped from a 3.6 to a 3.4 SC pulley and when I removed the belt I noticed a sort of dead spot as I cranked the pulley. Everything was bolted down tight, so it is definitely coming from the shaft. Should there be any play at all when I turn the pulley? (by hand) or should I feel tension as if the gears are fully engaged? hope this makes sense. | |

| Even after replacing the coupler, mine had a small amount of play. If it's making a lot of noise, I'd replace the coupler. Otherwise, should be okay. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| I can rotate my SC pulley about 1/4" before you can feel it engage. It's getting noisy, so I'm planning to replace it this summer. | |

| ok. It moves about a 1/4" as well and does make a little chatter (as far as I can tell that's where the clicking noise is origionating). So I may need to replace the coupler as well. On a side note...man! Dropping from a 3.6 to a 3.4 made a very noticable difference whereas the stock to 3.6 change was not as well received. | |

. maybe not, mine does this as well, and my coupler is only a year or two old. and all the bearings in the SC are new. | |

| I would think it's normal to have a little bit of free rotation before you feel the coupler engaged, probably doesn't have extremely tight tolerances. Mine seems looser than it should be, along with being noisy. I think my bearings are fine, the pulley has no looseness other than the rotational engagement. | |

| It depends on how large the holes on the coupler are drilled. I had one that was rock solid putting it on and a couple others that gave a little play. | |

| My ZZP coupler fit so tightly, I had to tap it on with a hammer. There is still some play in the SC pulley. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Subject: Supercharger play Wed Mar 26, 2008 8:41 am | |
| I had the pleasure of having to replace my superchager belt and two of my idler pulleys a couple of weeks ago...nugh said about that. While i had that belt off i noticed that my supercharger pulley has a little play in it. I could maybe get an eigth inch of rotation both ways before i could feel it hit and start to turn the rest of the supercharger. To my understanding that pulley is linked directly up to one of my "rotors" is that the right term?? so im just wondering if there is supposed to be some lash between the two rotors and if its something to worry about. | |
