| I just took that god awful hung of plastic off my engine, and degreased it (well needed) It's looking rather sexy now However, after running my engine for 15 minutes to dry everything off, I noticed a slight knock coming from what sounds like one of the supercharger pulleys.. I just had my serpentine assembly and the supercharged idler pulleys replaced, so this is puzzling to me... any ideas? Also, I was gonna go buy new plugs tomorrow, but i've heard that the plugs on rivieras are a 6!† h to change. any suggestions on what kind/how to change them? | |

| our plugs are easy to change. takes me maybe 1/2 an hour. our belts on the other had... use autolite AL605 plugs if you have an almost stock car. they are copper, which works better in forced induction engines. the knock could be the s/c coupler. take off the s/c belt and move the s/c pulley back and fourth to see if there is play before you turn the rotors. for future times, it is better to let the engine dry than to crank it and boil it off, just in case a sensor is wet. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Plugs are pretty easy compared to other 3800 cars. I don't know why people have so much trouble. I can change out fronts & rears from above in half an hour.
Could be any of the idler/tensioner pulleys, the alternator, any of the accessories, or the blower itself. Might try removing the SC belt and securing it out of the way (you can zip tie it to the side while it's around the motor mount) to see if that narrows it down. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Heh, I wrapped all of my exposded electrical stuff in saran wrap, I let it sit for about 10 minutes, then I ran it. Don't you have to take the engine off a mount to get the SC belt off? | |

| I like to do them from the bottom, with a very short extension on the socket. But I have long arms, so it works for me. | |
