Sounds like a lot of unrelated problems, possibly from lack of maintenance. How many miles are on the car?

agree
you need to determine how much $$ you are willing to spend to get it running right. then we can give you a list of things to do and check. but if you dont want to invest in the riv, then i have no answer for you.

Car ownership is going to cost money and be a PITA one way or the other. If you've got more money than time, buy a Honda or Toyota and pay someone else to maintain it. If you've got more time than money, a used Riv is an exceptional bang for the buck. You may be able to find one a little less used than what you've got - there's a guy on the site selling one with low mileage. If you have to replace the tranny, shocks, and struts, that's $2000-2500 right there. Possibly the value of your car.

Don't be afraid to ask questions - nothing will make car ownership more expensive than ignorance.

The LIM gasket isn't too hard to change, the part that takes the longest is cleaning things up. Just give yourself some time and work slow.
