| Hi everyone.
I was just roaming around the web for Riviera sites when this one popped into view.
I am so glad to find a new, fresh site devoted to our cars.
I have two 6th generation Riviera's, a 1980 and an '82 and I'm currently doing an off-the-frame restoration to rebuild one from parts of both. I haven't decided on which year it will become yet, but it will have the '80's 350 gas engine ( a sweet running engine ) and the "82's interior parts.
I don't know if I'm this sites first 6th gen owner or not but if I am, or not, I hope to contribute whatever I can of value to RivPerformance.com !!
Yours, Mark | |

| I am so excited to find a new site devoted to the Riviera. I was beginning to think that no one cared about our cars anymore, except for the folks who can afford membership in ROA.
I was surprised to find so many young owners of Generation 8 Rivieras. This is exciting all by itself, but to find that they're also interested in the older Rivs is a real bonus to me.
I think RivieraPerformance.com is going to grow to be a wonderful site for all of us Riv owners.
Thanks for welcoming me !!

| Ooh, 6th gen, nice. A clean, bright colored 6th gen coupe or convertible always looks nice with that regal front end. Not regal as in Buick Regal, but as in the word itself. You know. But yeah, plenty of us kids here who appreciate a good Buick. | |

| Mark, welcome aboard! Glad to hear you're keeping the BUICK 350 from your 80 Riv, last year for the Buick. They are excellent, dependable and strong engines. Powers my 68 GS350... | |

| Dave,
Sorry if I dissappoint you, but it's a tried and true Oldsmobile 350, not a Rocket unfortunately, but the Olds V8's are the strongest, most durable American engines ever built. And this is coming from a guy who was a Mopar kid !!
Edit: It is the last year for the Olds -350 gas engine however.

x2! Olds 350s are great. My dad had a 79 Delta 88 with a 350 and it had like 250k miles and he beat the crap out of it everyday it moved for a big boat. Sold it when the tranny went out a few years ago. Thing still ran as of 6 months ago...probably over 300k now.

| Same here, I drove a 79 Delta 88 350 black 2dr for a couple years. Sweet ride, with the maroon interior. The 350 was a good engine, but that damn thing wouldn't quit frying ign modules, at least once a year. Really liked that car, don't recall what prompted me to sell it, or what replaced it. I think we were getting married and were buying a new 92 Corsica... bleah. | |

| Who of our age could James?
I just put in my signature, I don't really have pics of my cars "before" but I'll try to get some "in progress" soon.
I'm having some problems with the "search" feature on this site. I'm trying to find owners of older Rivs but keep getting results for the "newer" 8th gen cars.
I know it's not setup in catagories for the different years, but maybe you guys can give me some search terms that would help me.
So far I've only found bfurches and his "85 T-Type.
p.s. I must have done something wrong, my signature isn't showing up.

| Thanks Kenon, that helped some.
I guess there are just not many of us on RivPerformance yet.
I don't know if I'm allowed to do it, but there is another site I'd like everyone with Olds engines to be allowed to know about. Maybe some of you do already.
Can I post it Aaron ? | |

| I doubt AA will care. Was it oldspower.com? i'm a now inactive member there and they have pretty good resources for olds engines.
I don't see how posting about another forum interferes with this one in any way , as most of us are probably members on other forums as well.
