| Ok, seriously... After thinking about it, I think I can explain wassup.(makes sence t me anyway) When I gutted my airbox- i could hear the sc better than stock. When I fabricated(big word)the airbox to only take in air fm the fenderwell- i could hear the sc better than with the gutted airbox. This leads me to believe that the badass sound is coming fm the intake side of the sc. So now, the stock intake tube is a fairly dense rubber and i think that insulates some of the blower noise. I am not sure, but if it was a metal intake I would hear it a even a little better. And with smaller pulleys- it would spin faster so you'd get even more noise. This is my understanding of the whole thing. Whether it is accurate or not=IDK | |

| I think Chris is onto something. The first video sounds just like mine, and mine's completely stock. | |

| So I was driving tonight and just left the gas station and I had my brother figure out my mpg.....20.2 not bad I thought. His female friend said I get way more than that. (drives a HYUNDAI) I said yeah but can your car do this. I floored it from about 20 and stayed in until it got to like 55 or so. Seemed like it took a while to get there. Also I hear a little of the blower sound but not a lot. Is it not very pronouced on a stock car? Can anyone do a sound clip for me of a stock engine? I had an 1988 series I N/A and it felt about like the same power as I had here. Could there be something wrong with my s/c? No CEL or anything. Just not the power I expected. | |

I get that a lot. Most drivers, especially female, will compare your "combined actual" MPG to whatever highway MPG their car was supposed to get based on the old EPA standard, which was generous. I'm betting she'd be surprised at her actual MPG if she were to take fuel records and calculate a measurement over several hundred miles of driving. Stock Supercharged Rivs are pretty quiet. Gut the airbox and you'll hear it whine! _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| I work with a gal who drives a Pontiac G6 coupe. When I told her the Riviera got 20 MPG (actual combined average) she said, "wow, that's all? I get 26 MPG." Turns out the EPA rates her car at 18 city / 26 hwy / 21 combined. Our cars get about the same mileage, but my car makes about 100 HP more than hers, and it's more than 500 lb heavier. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

Are you running 93 octane? It shouldn't take very long to get to 55... unless you have a lot of detonation going on or something?

Ahh, I'm sure your parents aren't stupid, they're just not as well informed about cars as you are, especially when it comes to Rivieras. In most cases, they'd be right. But not everyone has dozens of write-ups and a bunch of Riviera nuts to help them out when the going gets tough! _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| That's something that gets under my skin. When someone spouts off fuel milage with no real data/numbers to back it up. The window sticker values are just a comparison guideline, at best. Aaron's MPG rules with the mods he has.
Cheers

| Agreed. The first thing I ask is 'how many MPG was your last tank?' when people start spouting fuel economy 'stats' at me. If they can answer, then I ask 'exactly'? Usually nobody knows. I always know. 16.7
the last few weeks I've been trying to turn my car off at stoplights. It hasn't had a noticable effect on my milage yet, but I'll keep trying...

| I have a HAI on my Riv and can hear the blower whine at around 3,000rpms or so. It's really quiet compared to the Regal but that's only because the Regal has way more mods. I could swear that I can hear the engine growl up to 3,500 on the Riv until the blower drowns that sound out entirely. Oh the funny sounds stock L67s make. lol | |

| FenderWell Intake. see the hose that runs from the throttle into the fender? there is a k and n cone filter in there.
it wont sound like it with the stock air box. theres a lot of garbage that blocks a lot of the air flow. there are write ups on how to gut the air box. and for a FWI
