| We have a fresh intern here at work. He is from Belgium Holland, seems like a nice young man, still learning the ropes of being in the states, having been here only a few weeks. I'd never talked to him until this morning. He comes over to my desk and says: "Hi, it's Michael. I saw you at the gas station yesterday. When you left, I noticed your car made a high-pitched sound. It was very, very loud!" He's a pretty quiet fellow; I was surprised he felt the need to mention it. Welcome to the United States, land of torque, blowers, and Rivieras by Buick. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

Welcome to the United States, land of torque, blowers, and Rivieras by Buick. He probably thought it was busted, and has never seen an Audi or Bimmer dusted. Albertj

| Just a followup to my last post - I've learned that Michael, our intern, is a serious car enthusiast, perhaps even more so than myself. We've been talking a lot after work about cars, engines, driving, etc. He actually likes Crown Vics and Corvettes a lot - I guess in parts of Europe it is extrememely cool to drive a U.S. police car with the spot light. He's owned an older Mercedes, and a newer 3 Series BMW. His next step is a used AMG C-Class, which he hopes to buy when he gets home. I think he likes the AMG's massive torque number. Today we went to lunch; he rode with me in the Riv for the first time. I drove her easy on the first leg. His comments were: "Feels very solid."
"Very quiet, cannot hear the engine much."
"The engine rubbers (mounts) feel loose."He was right on about the mounts, as my rear mount is failing. On the way back to work, I did a WOT throttle run, then a hard corner w/ hard acceleration out of the turn. His comments were: "Wow, it accelerates very strong."
"Throttle response is quite good."
"It's like a wolf in sheep's clothing."
So, there's a younger European car enthusiast's first impression from riding in a 213k mile modded Riviera! _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| Very nice response. I had a not so nice encounter with an AMG driver yesterday. Devin and i were sitting at the light next to a kid in a 2010 E55amg that wanted some buick action. We were in devins regal btw, not my riv. We ran to 100 and the amg pulled < 3 cars on us then gave us a thumbs down... Well of course your $85,000, hand built amg, with 500hp outran our 99 buick with mild mods. shiesh, what does it take to get respect in FL?!?
Dont mean to hijack this thread though. The amgs do have gobs of torque from their superchargers. The E55 run a 12.7@114 with its 516 ft-lb of torque. c-classes are not nearly are exciting, but much more affordable. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | If the E-class wasn't such a pig it would be way better. LMAO What a chode for giving the thumbs down. You know part of him was wondering why the race was so close with his overpriced shit sedan.
