| The iPhone has 3 acceleromters in it. This makes it all worth the cost:
iPhone Dyno Tool
Awesome! I just got my 3G iPhone and I knew it wouldn't take long for something like this to appear!

| the program also works on the ipod touch which is cheaper than the iphone... not worth buying just for this gizomo though as they are going to charge for the program too. but if you already have one.... _________________ | |

| Nice, makes my old iPod Touch and my new iPhone all the more useful. Too bad it's one of those lameass pay options. You get ripped off buying stuff from the App store, I've got tons of apps on there since I Jailbroke mine and it didn't cost me a dime for any of them. | |

| My sister got an iPod touch, 8 gig, free with her new macbook. She's a complete dumbass for buying a mac in a windows house and windows school district, but that's another discussion. How accurate is this, do we know? Seems like we'd only be able to measure acceleration and speed with this gadget...the ipod isn't here or else I'd put this on it, so I have no idea what the program does or looks like for now. | |

| The G-tech performance meter ($200-300) uses the same accelerometer technology to measure speed, torque, power, distance, lateral Gs, and RPM. It uses your car's gear ratio and red line to offer shift points and show the power/torque curve. It also logs data. It's not official like the dyno or track, but according to G-tech RPM is accurate to +/- 2%. HP/TQ to 1%, 0-60 MPH to .2, 1/4 mile trap to .4 MPH, and 1/4 mile ET to .01 secs.
I don't see why this product would be much further off. Still, I'd wait on a review to show it works before buying. I think this program will sell like hotcakes. Anyone know the price? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| Yep, there are even games based on the accelerometers like one that emulates that annoying wooden maze game where you had to keep the metal ball from falling through the holes by balancing the board. Except this time it's with a shiny iPhone/iPod that you tilt in the direction you want the ball to go. | |

| Sorry, I had so much fun with it I forgot about this thread! From a breakdown lane going over a hill I ran a 15.2, which is about right since I had bad wheelspin in the sand and it wasn't exactly right on.
I'll try to grab a screenshot of it later.

| How does it interface with the car, I mean to find out all this info?
I just realized my iPhone is jailbroken to version 1.1.4 and to get this you have to have the App store which is version 2.0 and offers far less customization options and more trouble for me to upgrade to it. Basically, how well does this thing work? Is it worth all the hassle of upgrading, losing all info on the phone, and re-jailbreaking it?

| It works very well, but I am enjoying the phone very much and have no intention of jailbreaking, so I can't answer your question. | |

| Jailbreaking makes it better, you can install tons of free applications and the ability to jailbreak has been around since fimware 1.0. I don't know about the overrated 3G iPhone, I don't think it can be but the older ones can. I think I'd rather keep my Jailbroken features vs just getting a dyno thing. The bastards surely couldn't have released it as a free app like a lot of other nice apps are (via Jailbreak installer, not the app store). | |

| A friend with an iPhone is meeting with me on Sunday. He has the app already and loves it. Supposedly there are a couple hints and tips to make it more accurate which he will share with me. I have another buddy running blocker for me on the interstate to make sure I do not pass a cop at 120mph... think Smokey and the Bandit except the Bandit is a "90 LeSabre and Smokey is a 4000lb Riv. | |
