| What a cool photoshop... I was thinking what a clear hood would look like and there is a local guy that will do it for me (at least a panel that would fit in the middle). I might talk him into it. | |

| Nice layover Deek. Looks awesome. I wouldn't do it for real though. Makes me think of John Travolta at the end of Grease. | |

| You made it back O.K. from your trip ! How does the seat look ? And back on point, did you have a photo of your engine bay with the hood off to make that photoshop print? | |

| The trip suucked. 100 miles each way in post-holiday pike traffic in the rain/sleet/ice/mixed.... I shoulda picked a different day. Dumb.
The seat okay, has what I need. Your rockers look good.
The engine pic was from the same angle, with the hood open. We made that the background pic, then plopped the same angle shot with the hood closed pic on the next layer, and started to make it transparent around the hood. Then we took it to the next level with the clone pic...

Very creative, tho...... I wish I had more time in the day!!! But admittedly, this was done over a vacation weekend, we were killing time with family. My brother in law is a professional photographer and it was pretty much his idea he was saving to try with me, knowing how I enjoy cars. Well the clear hood thing was his idea. The only thing we forgot about was to throw in my reaching into the engine for something, so we could have me reaching through the clear hood... would have been the coup-de-gras! Thought of it later when we were editing... Thanks though!

| I guess I need a better camera to do it justice. Oh well, still looks better than it did! You can see the shade of black change from the quarter panel onto the drivers door. | |

| You do pretty damn good work for taking one class Derek! Looks great, I guess they didn't show you guys how to blend the paint into the door? I've always wanted to take an autobody class. Good for you man. | |

| They will do blending and such, but I'm working my way around the whole car, so I don't mind the mismatch for now. It's temporary... The only problem with the class is that it's 3 hours long and you can't leave work there, so it's not really enough time to prep and paint an entire car. I may go after some bigger areas next class though, like trying to do multiple panels at once. The next area that bugs me a ton is the roof, it's high on my list. But the front fenders, right in front of the wheel opening is starting to rot too. Damn salty winters! | |

I believe that the class consisted of many 3 hour sessions. I took a welding course at a local community college some time ago and it was 10 or 12 weeks of 3 hour classes. After talking to Derek and paying out the arse to a body shop for touch up work every year on my Riv I'm considering enrolling in a 10 - 12 week 3 hours once per week night course in body repair. I have some self taught skills but would like some expert help and it's always good to be taught the latest and greatest procedures and use of new products. That's why i took the welding class. When I first learned how to weld (many, many moons ago) there was no such thing as MIG welders, at least not that I knew of. We used arc / stick welding and Oxy - Acet. only.
