Cooling fan Empty
PostSubject: Cooling fan   Cooling fan EmptySun Mar 11, 2007 5:39 pm

I started to have trouble with my cooling fans staying on after I turned off the riv, it came to the point where they were draining the battery. So i did my research and most places said it is either the cooling fan relay, or the coolant temperature switch. Well i replaced both of them and the fan still runs after i turn the riv off, any ideas on what the problem could still be?

Does it happen all of the time? How long do they run after the car is shut off? How hot is your coolant temps when they run with car off?

in the black box it says cooling fan # 2 and # 3. (relays) and then there is a cooling fan (no #) but it looks like a fuse. page 6-61 in the owners man is my reference.
also # 20 fuse in the fuse box on in the door jam says cooling fan. you might as well just run the multi to all the fuses you can find lol
you problem sounds like a realay and not a fuse. did you say both fan continue to run? do they run while the car is on w/AC off?

quote: "do they run while the car is on w/AC off?"

Why would AC on/off have anything do with it?

Don't know. will have to check it out. I don't remember the fans ever coming on until I reprogrammed the PCM.

On my 98 with the A/C and heating off, the fans don't come on until 210-215 degrees. They will then shut off around 195-200 degrees.
