I was driving at night about a week ago with thye windows down and the stereo off and noticed a weird rubbing noise that seemed to originate from the driverside wheel well.

i got home and jacked it up, removed the front wheel, put it in neutral, and started to spin the axle by turning the rotor.

im unsure if its the wheel berring, or the inner CV, or worst case scenario the TRANS. any ideas on what it could be.

dunce

Most likely the wheel bearing, but usually the wheel speed sensor gets wiped out before the bearing fails. CV joint would only make noise on accel/decel/turn.

Hard to say without witnessing the noise... Video?

scraping noise through turns sounds like CV joint.

It could be many things.

Inspect the pads and wear indicator for possible issues/rubbing. Look for possible caliper sticking.

CV joint will typically manifest itself on turns and sound like a clicking as the joint moves in the pivot.

Wheel bearings normally will hum and increase vibration/hum with speed.

Trans....is tough to say.

Maybe a stupid question , but did you check to make sure your filter isn't pushing out and causing the liner on the fenderwell to push in causing it to rub against the tire? I know i had that problem for a while and thats what it was.
