| some guys from the 3800 community got togethor last night, the persons house we were meeting at has a tuner program with his buddy and they happily wanted to scan my car after 20 minutes we found the obdII port because it was stuffed up by the column, the guy has tuned 5 cars and messed with tune alot so i trusted him. he gave me the skip shifts, trans pressure increase, set the tranny to shift asap, took ther rev limiter off, and i cant remember anything else we started messing with some timing and i just got knock so i had him go back to stock values, he saved my orignal file so if i want to go back to stock setting i can thought id share my little tuning lesson for the week, those downshifts into 1st at 35 are wicked | |

| tell me about it, the other guy i rode with had an intense pcm that sucked, it didnt have anything changed.
still the 3 injector turn off, no trans pressure increase, and i know for a fact it turned to cooling fans on at 180

That's not such a bad thing. Glad you are enjoying the new tune. Perfshift is one of my favorite PCM upgrades as well. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| To my knowledge, you must actually activate "perf shift" mode in the PCM, then use a switch to turn it on. I don't do it. Instead, I've programed trans pressures to shift harder.
My Riv's shift from 3-1 is pretty nasty hard and abrupt, even though some say it's not really a "skip shift". I just don't believe it needs to be any harder. It goes from 3 to 1, there's no 2nd gear in there. Same with 4-2 shifts. Throws you back pretty hard. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| Dave, if you want my upgraded shift program, it has improved since last year. Lots more high revving during normal driving, but not as jerky when you take it easy. Nasty hard shifts when you get on it. Let me know. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Blake.. you need to actually spend a day or two there and get some real tuning. From the sound of it you got the standard things typically done and when he tried some timing your current tune rejected it. One thing to keep in mind with the trans changes he made is that yoru trans is probably taking a much harder hit as he most likely pulled almost oall of torque management out. It's a great feeling though, enjoy it while it lasts. | |

| TM is there to help soften the shifts between gears. I've lowered mine somewhat, but lots of guys remove it completely. There was someone at the Regal board who said his car would chirp tires on the upshifts. Not long after he claimed GM transmissions were made of wood. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

i dont know Our stock tune is a "Safe" tune, designed to combat many external variables. The stock tune has to work mediocre from northern canadian winters to arizonian summers, and account for drivers who don't run on premium like it says they should. If you tune for your climate and driving style, you can do a lot more with the performance.
