| Letting the EGR valve cool off. I can shake it up and down and hear something moving inside, sort of how when you shake a working PCV valve. Sounds like something is sliding ever so slightly. Is this normal? | |

| I've never done a "shake test" on an EGR. I think the pintle moves on an EGR valve pretty freely. It might make a slight thumping noise on the base of the EGR valve, if you shake it like a PCV. | |

| This Actron will read almost everything you need for diagnosing your Riv and works with all OBD2 vehicles as well. If you plan on keeping your Riv for awhile, it's about the best investment you can make and you won't find a NEW one cheaper | |

| Subject: CRUISE CONTROL QUESTION FOR 96-88 Rivieras. Sat Oct 18, 2014 11:17 pm | |
| Did anyone else have this symptom, and did you find the cause...
Cruise Control engages above 25 MPH and will remain engages for 3-5 minutes, but will disengage thereafter. It will then re-engage after 5-10 minutes, whether the car is running on the road or parked with the engine of.
This happens to me regardless of road bumps. It does not seem to be a brake switch, ignition switch, transmission selector switch, or Cruise switches since I can jiggle each of these and not cause a disengagement. I suspect this is a bad Cruise Control Module as it seems that a part within the module gets hot during engagement and fails, and needs to cool off before it will work again. Thoughts? Thanks - Hal | |
