| I know where the EGR is. Someone said something about cleaning it though and it made me turn my head like a confused dog. Jack I love that intake pipe. Can you give me a item list as to what you used. I like yours better then a few others I have seen. I have seen mostly white PVC piping and they dont look very good to me. Can anyone suggest where I can go to get the codes read? | |

Thanks. I'm having a new one made from metal, so I'll sell mine when I get the new one made (minus the filter). Mine is the white PVC but I painted it. It looks and works great. I just have some weird hangup about having sewer pipe under the hood. There is a thread on the forum that gives all the parts breakdown. It's probably stupid on my part to spend money to get the exact same thing made out of metal, but oh well. As far as the codes, I'm not sure. I have a buddy w/ a garage that I take mine to.

| Got another question......On the series 1 engines, what is that black box behind the engine on the fire wall. To be more specific, if you look at the picture that Jack ohas on this thread, its the black box at the top of the image in the middle. | |

| IDK, the series II has the cruise control box there IIRC. that kinda looks like a cabin air filter box, but i dont think any of the rivs had a cabin filter. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | I need some thoughts..
This morning while returning on a short trip (2mi) I had an issue. Engine was warm, rain was moderate with standing puddles, traction control was off, I was turning left from a stop about 50% throttle. Thru the turn my car hesitated strongly three times. Ordeal lasted 5sec. I immediately looked at the gas guage (3/4 full) when it started to hesitate.
My intake is a custom CAI that is blocked off from the heat of the engine bay and sucks up cold air from the fender. Fuel system was overhauled 2-3 weeks ago. It did not do it again under throttle.
Do you think it's possible I might of sucked up a little water? Do you think it might be a trans isssue? Any chance that the traction control did not fully engage? That's what it felt like but usually I hear a buzzing sound when it does engage. Thoughts??? It is the only time I have had a problem.

| even if you turn the TC off it still works, though it might not use the pump to control..i think it pulls timing to interfere with the engine..ive done this before with the TC off... | |

| is the CAI new? or do you have a new K&N filter with lots of oil on it? that can interfere with the MAF readings and cause all kinds of wierd problems. if its a one time thing, i wouldnt be too woried about it, but if it happens again in dry weather, then worry. also, do you have a scanner and the ability to check for pending codes? _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Got a scanner, everything on the engine is 4mo or newer drove the car a little more today and no problems. Thinking it was a little moisture in the intake to cause the stumble. | |

| given your car's age I wonder if it's maybe a fuel pump (wiring) or crank sensor (intermittent warm) issue. I am only guessing though.

| that leaves the crank sensor. When mine started to quit, it would stumble only when fully warm and cruising, and even then just for a moment or two. Neither I nor dealer mechanic could duplicate the problems.

| Good description Albert... I used to think of it as a hiccup. Then with scanner hooked up I noticed something interesting. The run time counter would reset when it would stumble/hiccup.
If you have access to a scanner this might be one more possible way to tell.
