i was just wondering if upgrading the coil to a high performance coil with some new plugs would gain anything. maybe mpg or ever hp gain.

msd ignition coils are "supposed" to be a performance option. with that said, dont waste your money. lots of 10 second L67's on stock coils and wires. definitely not a weak point in our motors.
i'm sure there are some motors that gain a little power from larger/better wires and coil packs, but i would be very surprised if you got any gains from them on our cars.

The stock L67 coils have been proven to be more than powerful enough for even heavily modified motors. If yours are in good working condition keep em!

I've heard it time and time again, on here and on RegalGS.org - the ruling is in, stick with the stock ones. I've even read threads where the person's coil packs/wires failed and they needed to replace them, and it was recommended that they replace them with stock parts instead of aftermarket.

I've paid extra for "premium" spark plugs before, and have never noticed any difference worth the money.

for a lot less money you can buy a can of red paint and spray the coils covers red happy.

Chris, just curious, was there anything wrong with your OEM coils at 227K?

I'd guess that swapping out new wires, plugs, and coils made a little difference - because they were new compared to used. You could replace with stock equipment and expect the same results.
