Ignition Help Empty
PostSubject: Ignition Help   Ignition Help EmptyMon May 04, 2009 8:52 pm

Hey everyone!

I am in the middle of a long time build up of a Toyota 4x4 buildup with the 3800 S1 S/C and everything is going well untill now.

For starters the motor is out of a 92 Bonneville sse. I had all the wiring sent to a wire tech who wired it up and my ECM was reflashed. I got everything all hooked up and when I tried to fire it up I had no spark.

I checked for power to the ICM and there was nothing. Now from what I understand the wire comes from the 6 pin connector by the alternator or am I wrong?

Anyways I jumped power to it through a fused switch and it fired up no problem made me happier than a pig in sh*t. Seems to run pretty good. After everything started to get warmed up I shut it off and when I went to go turn it on again nothing. NO SPARK again. Also after I did get it fired up again the engine just died because of this problem.

What I need to know is could this be a ICM problem or could it be something in the harness? What controlls the ICM? CPS? Any help will be some help

First - did you get a code reader and pull codes? You know, you ought to consider doing that before you post. Not because people are not going to help if you dont, rather that you can eliminate a lot of stuff if you do and so the advice you get is more likely to be helpful.

That said - check for broken or loose wires to the crank and cam sensors.

If not too much of a PITA, swap the crank sensor with a known good one.

Reason - a bum crank sensor when it fails sets no codes.
