FAQ: Rims, Wheels that Look Good on the Riv

The last one is the only one I'm interested in. They're usually $250 ea for an "A" condition rim. The cheaper ones are usually "C" wheels - "...will have scratches, pitting, or rust..."

Ooh, I really like that first one! Our stock rims are 16's, I think. What size are those, from what model, and does anyone know offhand if they'd fit a Riv?

The first one is off a LaCrosse/Allure and it's a 16" x 6.5" with a 52mm offset. The 2nd and 3rd ones are 17" x 6.5" and the 4th and 5th ones are 18" x 7.5" with a 51mm offset. I think the 2nd and 3rd ones are also from a LaCrosse and the last two are from the Lucerne. I would imagine most of these would work since they're all FWD cars although the Lucerne's might be a bit too big. It would be kinda funny to have big factory rims.

They also have a chrome version of the first rim:

This rim has the exact same dimensions as the stock rims so the tires would even transfer over. The rest are all a little bigger.

I checked ebay, and they're $100 EACH

Not worth it...too bad though.

i like the chrome version of the first rim the best....can sum1 photoshop those on the riv?

Not worth it? That's pretty cheap for rims and it makes the car stand out without looking non-OEM. Btw, that is what I was asking if someone could PS all those rims onto a car. Not a priority just curious to see what they'd look like.

I also like the rims for the newer Buicks. The one above is my favorite at the moment. I have the 7 spoke chrome factory rims, which I like, but if I did make a change, I think these would look great on the Riv.

those are pretty nice Tony, but i've had my mind set on these for a long time now....again just waiting on the right time w/money
they are the caddy STS rims IIRC. come in 17 or 18 chrome for $600 on ebay (oh course i dont see them right now) the only thing i dont like is the guy said they are 30lbs each . i dont think i'm ready to sacrifice performance for looks just yet.

I just had an idea, since there is no badging on our cars what's to stop us from putting Cadillac rims on our cars? It would be very tacky if it said Buick somewhere on the car but the only place it does is on the dash and the small shields on the steering wheel. I was thinking of maybe these:

I like the style of this rim as well, but this actually has a Caddy logo on it. I dunno if it would look really tacky on our cars or not, it's not like our cars aren't as nice as Caddy's anyways...

Well, I know I'm just saying who really knows it's a Buick? Most people driving down the road don't. If people on here have stories of people giving them tickets and writing Riviera as the make and R as the model...no people don't have a damn clue what make the car is.

Yeah I agree.... I told this one girl i drove a 12 year old buick and she laughed at me , until she saw it and said nice car.

regal chromes fit right on the riv, thats whats on my car

I have a 95' Riv SC. Will 20" rims screw up the self-eveling suspension?

They look heavy, lots of weight out towards the edge of the rim too.

Mr.Riviera - 30 lbs doesn't sound bad. My rim/tire combo (the stock chrome 7 spokers) is 50 lbs. How much can the tire weigh?

edit - to answer my own question, I just measured a 225/75/R16 truck tire (no rim) at 28 lbs. It's about 2" wider on each side then my stock diameter Riv tire. So I think you'd be no more than 3-5 lbs over the weight of the stock rims with the Caddy rim, if that.

Sorry, I don't know too much about rims other than size and tire width so would these rims work on a '96 Riv?

Pretty damn cheap for four custom rims with tires. I was actually thinking of going with black wheels on my Riv and these are pretty cheap and almost exactly like the kind of rim I would've bought if I bought them new. Really need a kinda quick response because if they will work I want to message him ASAP.

Sam...I just put on 20's today and it levels just fine....

Well, I looked on a custom wheel site and they show some rims that are 17" that have a 5 x 100 bolt pattern and I told it I have a '96 Riviera. There were also some 5 x 110 as well as 5 x 115 and some actually said stuff like 5 x 115/110. Here is the said page.

Ah okay. So the tires he has and everything will work I just need the adapter? Where could I find said adapter and for how much? Also, I've heard that adapters will screw up your alignment and your car won't hold an alignment if you use them. Any truth to that?

Montaniera - What rims? Do you know how much the rim/tire combo weighed? Notice a difference in ride quality and performance?

with rims w/tires that I got the weight was approx 8lbs. ea. more than the stock 12 spoke (that was using a regular bathroom scale)

the ride is still really smooth with the stock suspension, but the performance is great....tighter steering control and is really sticks to the road...I opened her up several times and it felt great....even less body roll!

weight on the new wheel/tires ( on a digital bathroom scale) weighed in at 56 lbs. ea.
