now heres a video of my riv pulling from 25-85 or so.... not that most of you don't know how a riv accelerates and a lot of you are faster but i though i'd put it up anyway.

Awesome vid! It's odd to remember back to when the Riv was quiet, yet still relatively quick.

Yeah i'm trying to catalog the videos with each mod or series of mods at least... i ordered an mps from intense so i wanted to see how much i'm improving and how much i'm losing in quietness How quiet is it while cruising with the headers , fwi and smaller pulley?

Sound level doesn't increase at all when cruising at low RPM, as long as you don't remove the resonator and mufflers. Any noise created by FWI, headers, etc. is masked by wind and road noise.
FWI intake makes the engine sound harsh at idle, especially when cold, and SC whine is very loud at WOT. Smaller SC pulleys slightly increase in pitch the smaller you go. Headers create resonances under the hood that make the cabin vibrate under acceleration. They also can tick a little at the flex pipe. This is noticeable most under load at low RPM (accelerating in TCC lock), but can be remedied by wrapping the pipe and programming TCC to behave. From the rear (outside), the exhaust note is noticeably deeper, and slightly more growl inside the car when you step on it.
Here are some sound clips of my car in the early stages:
WOT runs after gutted airbox & K&N 12-30-2003
WOT runs after 3.4" SC pulley 08-24-2004
WOT runs after rockers, shift pak, & intake 03-08-2006

yeah its definitely louder under wot...but i'm not sure thats such a bad thing...kinda wanna see how far i can go with the riv while still maintaining a quiet ride ( while cruising)...i mean after all , if i wanted to just go fast i wouldve bought a gtp. I like refinement in my vehicles..

If you want it to be quiet all the time, my advice is to build a CAI instead of FWI, and do not make any changes to the exhaust except for the down pipe. Besides intake & exhaust, most other mods don't increase noise very much. Good luck!

Yeah i plan on leaving it as a gutted box for now... the stock setup doesnt look too bad on these cars anyway... and i was gonna go with a powerlog and rear pem and 3in dp instead of headers as ive heard they dont increase noise much.

Imo, a good CAI will make about the same level of power increase as a 3" down pipe. Depending on mods, this could be anywhere from 5-10 HP.

Hi Tony,
I am running a homemade CAI/FWI using the stock rubber/flex with muffler still attached, a couple of PVC elbows and down into the fenderwell. It sounds pretty cool when you are at heavy throttle, but is still very quiet at low throttle/cruise. I also run headers and a high flow cat, but still have the stock res. and mufflers. I do NOT like the way the 3800 sounds with no resonator, don't remove the res. There are, however, some nice 3" resonators. I heard a zzp whisper resonator on a SC regal and it sounded nice. A little louder than stock but not 'droney'.
Good luck!
Your car looks nice and clean! It's been hard to keep mine looking that way...

Thanks! yeah i love supercharger whine.. my last car and a real loud exhaust on it so i'm wary of putting anything too loud on the riv. My last car sounded mean though , as it was a v8 , not much of one , but it sounded good. I havent heard many 3.8s with exhuast that i like except for ones that turn real high revs, I probably will go with a fwi, just not immediately. So your setup looks stock but is routed from the fenderwell correct?
And i'll keep it clean... she gets washed about 3 times every two weeks ( two out of three are usually pretty in depth detailing ) and always a good coat of wax.

I picked up a set of chrome 18s of ebay for 180 bucks... theyre similar to oldsman 105s... they wont be on anytime soon because im not really wanting to buy new tires when the whens on my car now are in pretty good shape...unless of course someone wants a set of OEM alloy wheels in good shape ( a few nicks on the centercaps ) and makes an offer... but yeah i'm pretty happy.
