I'd go for whipple just because of the air raid siren noise!

I'd go whipple because of the ease of installation compared to turbo, and the efficiency of the whipple is so good for a blower, the torque curve is ultra flat, making a mean car for the street or road racing.
For a drag car or high dyno numbers, turbo will make the better numbers, but it's hard to design and tune a turbo to work well on the street. You really have to know your stuff. Some newer engines manage to get low-end torque and less lag from turbo application, but it took the manufacturers years to figure it out. Lots of research required to get it right.
Then there's the reliability aspect. The whipple is so simple, while the turbo requires much more pluming (risk of leaks), and turbos themselves tend to not be as bulletproof like blowers are. The whipple is more likely to just work, and as said it sounds so awesome!

whipple is WAY more efficient and is a totally different engineered unit.

I agree with all the above
If you can find a way to get a new whipple kit, do it! I thought they were now unavailable...

IMO the turbo is the way to go on a GTP. The install kits are very thorough, and have a lot more potential for easy power. With superchargers (even a whipple) you are fighting heat and there's no good place for an intercooler except to make your intake taller and taller.

I agree, I'd go with the Turbo kit, they are quite complete kits and ready to use and there is a lot of support from guys on other boards that have already done the install and tuning. I think it would be less expensive all said and done and quicker to install. If your starting with a factory engine with SC then the compression ratio is relatively low to start with, giving you some room for boost. And you can always add a water methanol injection system to your set-up for added boost, lower combustion temps, KR control and increased HP and Tq. The water meth. kits cost around $500.00 and UP & have accurate control units to supply the correct volume at the right time. Look at the units made for later GM's with MAF control. They use the frequency band from the MAF to control the amount of fluid sprayed. Much more accurate than other systems and very easy to set up with a SC or Turbo install. I have been doing some research on these systems lately and they have come a long way from just a few years ago with lifetime guarantees. Take a look at Snowperformance.net and look at the stage 2 and/or 3 system IIRC. It has an excellent controller that takes all the guess work out of the system and makes it almost a plug and play. I am considering doing this instead of adding an intercooller. You will have to do some tuning for the Turbo and this anyway.
