This is a very rough hood, taken from an old parts car. We'll do a step by step
resto as time permits. A Stage 2 scoop will be used, as will a Buick hood
tach. I work in a large bodyshop doing bus fleet repair, but this will
be done here at home on the weekends if I haven't gotten my fill of
filth, sweat and aggrevation for the week yet. The hood is covered in
heavy surface rust, and also has a few rust holes at the very front. Before
we even get the air hose out, a word to the second generation purists out
there: I know you folks hate to see these sort of modifications to Riviera
sheet metal. There are probably still 500 or so '68 GS Rivs out there, and
if this were the last one of it's kind, it'd be a bone stock resto. The mods will
be done with much planning and detail to look the way the factory would
have done it, had they chose to do so. The last thing we'll do is to "cut 'n buff it",
but we have a long way to go before then. Here are the begining pics of our
little jewel in the rough, just to make you feel a bit better about your door dings;
Photos in photobucket will be resized next go round, couldn't find the "resize" tab for these. headshot

Wellllll, my plans to do the hood on the '68 GS in "real time" with the
Stage II mods have taken a back seat to a new direction.
Currently, money (thankfully) allows me to proceed with doing the
whole a/c system stem to stern, firewall to condenser. This will
take to place of the hood for now, which will also take place here
in the future. It will be quit a lengthy procedure while upgrading
the compressor to a Sanden 508, custom mounts, and a few other
tricks. As soon as parts begin to arrive, pics will be up. Again, most of you guys will find this to be somewhat of a snoozer, as this is primarily
a late model Riviera forum. Easy thirteens (12's capable with a
bit more gear and heavy duty drive shaft) with full a/c, all options
and nearly 4600(gulp) race weight will be quit the thing of beauty.
Good to be back, ya'll. Diggers of old metal, this ones for you.......
