much easier to spot leaks and accumulate admiration (and envy... never heard of 'green with envy?' well bunkie when he fires up and launches that built engine that might be your initiation... ) I have a friend who built up one of those engines & dropped it into his restored '69 Electra 225 convertible. You *know* when he's coming even though the exhaust is muffled quiet. Albertj

| I have 2 kids and a stay at home wife that are still sleeping when I come home for lunch every day at 11.
I'm hoping that this + a magnaflow exhaust will remedy that situation. I'm tired of being the only one that has to get up in the morning.

| jonly, I've meaning to ask, the California body you picked up, was that totally rot free. From what I can see in the pic's it looks so.
Wish I lived closer. I'd like to learn a little about the nailhead during rebuild.

Wish I lived closer. I'd like to learn a little about the nailhead during rebuild. it has the typical rear window rot, as well as a missing hood nose, but the rest is in very good shape. The previous owner had purchased it as a restore project for himself and his son, his son bought a harley and lost interest. The seller had restored other rivs previously so I felt good about his judgment in picking a solid foundation. The shipping was outrageous, but living in the rustbelt, it was the only way to get one in this condition. The car it's entire life in the high desert in Cali, original owner was in palm springs. I wish you lived closer too, I could use all the help I can get putting this back together.

| not much new to report, the wife was out of work for a while and put a hold on the project for a couple months. Been putting the engine together slowly, most of my time is spent degreasing, grinding and scraping gunk and rust off. pick up a set of tires from sears (found out that walmart doesn't actually let you pick your tire size) so I could move the car into the garage.
the engine is coming together and I hope to have it installed in the vehicle next weekend. I'l update pics at that point. I don't have the luxury of sending the car to 'body and paint' like the folks on TV, so there's no updates on that end at this point.

| it's been slow, I completely underestimated the amount of time it would take to clean and prep parts, even with buying a rebuild kit.
I've been grinding and chipping away at what could potentially be 40 year old carbon deposits for months.
thanks for the pat on the back.

| Your very welcome.
Now lets here it run, and I do mean hear it. Your going to have to have someone take video with audio for the first start up on open exhaust and post the porn here for all to see and feel. If it's possible to feel and engine rumble over the internets. I think if your listening hard enough and close your eyes you can feel a big block running.
I know I'm looking forward to it. Good Luck.

| Nice work james, it looks like you put a lot of work into it. Did you do a complete tear down?, did you have it sent out? Either way, heres another member interested in your results, please keep us updated. | |

| thanks, it was a complete tear down, had it sent to a machine shop for planing and honing, and have been re-assembling it myself when I can find time over the last couple months. I'm hoping it makes it through the break in period, as this is my first build... I'll post updates as they occur.
