Since I replaced my water pump a month or so ago, I have had this noise under acceleration. I'll liken it to a roar coming from the passenger side of the engine.
Unless the car is under load you can't hear it.
My first thought was I disturbed the donut gasket were the exhaust pipe meets the manifold when I supported and then raised the engine to gain better access to bolts. I replaced it, and while the old one wasn't in the best of shape, it didn't solve the noise problem.
Are the exhaust manifolds on the Series II prone to cracking?
Is the noise I describe consistent with that of an exhaust manifold issue?
I'm going to try and look closer this weekend by having the wife put the car in gear and put it under load while I look and listen.
(All precautions taken to prevent the car from moving of course!)
Just looking for some thoughts first.
I can't imagine what having the front of the engine apart and this noise have to do with one another, maybe it is just a coincidence the noise appeared at the same time.
