Codith, Refresh my memory on the complete set-up.? Do you have a resonator ? Do you have a CAT.? What is the latest muffler, and you eliminated the second pipe with the glass pack, correct.??
How bad is the Droan? And at what RPM do you experience droan.?
I'd have to get back if you want any part numbers but its XSP headers, no cat, 4" glasspack at resonator location, and a walker soundfx muffler replacement for a 4.3L and a tip. System is all 3"
The second pipe with the glasspack was bolted to the cutout flange so it's pretty easy to take on and off. I had to take it off so I could take measurements without stuff in the way.
The drone is replaced with a nice growl so there is really no drone ever. So basically the idle is slightly burbly (not as much as a louder muffler(s) but a good amount for an otherwise quiet muffler), the cruising rpms (which would be the drone range most of the time), it sounds more like a stock gtp with more balls, and then above the drone range, it gets pretty quiet again. At WOT, I guess it sorta hisses. There's not much to hear at the point 'cause the s/c pretty much makes most of the noise which is ideal IMO.
Derek, I still want to do my next exhaust but It's not going to happen until I have another job and get stuff straight again. It's going to cost a little money. I also have a blower sitting here dying to get put on with an I/C. I guess it all depends on what I feel like doing once I have play money again. I'm pretty happy with the way this exhaust sounds now. My beef is mostly how it looks. I've used what I've learned from this exhaust in my plans for the next so it should be a great result.

Holy muffler clamps batman! That is one hacked exhaust setup. I think you would have been better off with the factory stuff.
It sounds real nice but, yeah, I'd take it to someone to get it fitted more tightly under the car. I think I've gotten good bang for my buck with exhaust shops and they're worth the money in my book (I've learned my lesson).
I like the sound though. Don't think I've heard anything I like better. But I'm happy with the stock sound too.

Mine was done at an exhaust shop. Cheap enough, I can't be bothered with "colored engineering" things.

Turtleman... the sound of your Riv after you did this: Right after the xp cam install with 3"dp, shop fabbed 3" catless, resonatorless exhaust, dynomax superturbo mufflers
OMG! It sounds FIERCE!! That's the sound I hope to one day have on the Riv that I just picked up. That sounds like a small block V-8 burbling away under the hood.
Wow! That's just awesome, man!!

I no longer have this exhaust and have not posted the new one yet. The new exhaust is darn near silent.
The one in the video:
3" Downpipe with flex into Walker cat, 2-3/4" exit thru T304 stainless 'cherry bomb' type resonator, split to 2-1/2" at Y, one L bend (instead of the stock S bend) into custom made mufflers packed with combination of glass and T304 stainless wool, outlet to resonated oval tips.
I kept the 3" downpipe on the new exhaust but the rest is factory 2004 Park Ave Ultra.

Thx. It's rich, only right after letting off from heavy boost. I have to drive a certain way to get the afterfires. Normally it makes almost no sound at all. My wife says it spits flames at night!
No offense to anyone, but the only sounds I like from this engine are the idle on stock exhaust and the supercharger whine. Anything else just sounds ugly IMO.

I agree, Matt. But after hearing it for the first time, I do like the growl it makes at 1:10 when shifting down into 2nd. What I like most about my exhaust is that it's not too loud.
