| first post - I bought a 96 riv sc in 2000 with 32k miles on it. Now it has 174k. I've been fairly impressed with it in the last 7 years, aside from incidentals I've only really had to replace the sc tensioner pulley. I"ve had it long enough to start thinking about the restoration process which is going to begin this summer, so I'm looking for web resources and stumbled on this site from a link at regalgs. Look forward to hanging out with you people. edit: I also had to replace the sc bypass valve at around 110k. | |

| it needs paint, the driver's seat is starting to rip, she drips oil all over the driveway, and some of the chrome is starting to flake. The trim over the driver's side front wheel comes loose from time to time and needs to be snapped back in place. Little things like that. And nearing 200k I'm starting to think about my next engine. Thanks for the welcome! | |

| probably the oil pan gasket leaking = easy fix you mean the chrome parts of the body are peeling? thats the first i've heard of that. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. What makes you think it needs a new engine? I'd imagine the miles are mostly highway and not all that hard on the lump. You should be more concerned about the trans more than anything if you WANT something to think about. Otherwise, welcome. | |

| Welcome! This is a great forum for thr last generation Riv. - jonly wrote:

The only chrome on these is the rear plate ring and the grille and they are plastic, the best way to replace it to do the whole tail light assembly. The rest is stainless, and the clips on the front wheel moulding are replaceable too. My '92 Riv has 216K on it and the 3800 still runs very good, it actually uses less oil in 3000 miles than my '95 with only 54K! | |
