| LOL flyin.....
As for the noise, I forgot something.....please don't confuse the whine I'm referring to with the "hiss" that the pump and rack make when you hold the steering wheel to the lock. That noise is the fluid rushing back through the flow control pressure relief valve when it opens.

| So, I actually got some quality time to work on polishing the GenV yesterday. I was dead at work, and only had to work on one car. So, I spent the whole day destroying my fingers, arms, wrists, shoulders and elbows. This is what I started with in the morning... I got it all blended to this. Notice the rough scratches still there... This is before trying the polish, all rough marks removed (from this side) I polished 2 of the grooves and part of the case..... This thing is starting to look amazing. What you see sitting there is just the case. I took the whole thing apart.....gonna polish it inside and out, without touching where the rotors go. If I have time next week, I should be able to get it all done, including the LIM | |

| WOW, Scott that looks amazing man, great job. How long did it take for the transition in your pics to take place, and how long will it stay looking like that once its in use? | |

| That case is looking tasty scott! You definitely have a lot more patience than me, or a better technique. What all tools have you been using? | |

Trust me, it's a GIANT PITA and I don't recommend doing it.... I first used an Aluminum bur to blend the corners/edges (first pic). Then I used a grinding stone (the proper size) down the centers of the top. After that, it was a mix of 36, 40, 50, 120, and 240 grit Roloc discs and sandpaper. I also bought a box of Super-Fine red Scotch-Brite discs for the "final" touch. However, the "Super-fine" looks great until you try to polish it. EVERY SINGLE little spot that's missed shows up. So, change of plans.... I ended up buying a $8 20 piece set of 1/4" shank diamond carbide burs (Harbor Freight) to get into all the really hard spots. For the final smoothing before polish, I'm now using purple Scotch Brite pads. They work great. I was able to use the brown rouge with the red (rough) ball on my polisher to smooth out the fine scratches (after Scotch Brite), then the white rouge with the cotton ball (large) for final polish. Right now the entire case is a "flat" smooth. I have more pics, just haven't uploaded them yet. It's definitely a grueling process, but, it's satisfying. I'll take a pic later with everything on my workbench that I've used lol.

| Updated pics! Whole thing ground down In this pic, the small spaces aren't smoothed yet, but I've since got them done with the little diamond carbide bits I bought This is the finish that the purple Scotch Brite leaves. You can also see the spaces done with the carbide bits (bottom of pic). Still need to smooth them by hand. Notice the casting mark (round thing) that I removed and smoothed. I did it where the throttle body mounts also. I think I'm going to do the same thing on the other end.... More pics to come!!!! | |

| Nope, no paint. Probably just a clear powder coating to seal it up once I'm done. | |

| Another update. It's almost done. Still have most of the backside of it to do, and need to touch up all the lil corners, but here she is.... Notice the "haze" on the right of the lower photo. I still need to buff that side out. Other than that, she's almost done! I have to get my MPS (not purchased yet) mounted on the nose before I polish it. Don't want to f-it-up after the polish. When it's all said and done....ON TO THE INTAKE!!! | |

| You DO realize what this means, don't you... There is now a moral imperative to find chromed rocker covers, chromed exhaust headers, chromed alternator and chromed injector plumbing! (Hmmm... Does anyone chrome heads and blocks??) | |
