| Apologies if this is in the forum buried somewhere, but will Series III heads fit on my Series II? I want to do headwork, but I don't feel like taking my current heads off. I have an entire Series III engine minus the S/C and TB in the garage, which I plan on building soon. Just figured if I could port 'em, do the valve job and the rockers/springs on the bench, the swap would make it wayyyy easier without my car being down..... | |

| As far as I know, they are the same heads. | |

| I like the question. How do we find out a definitive answer.? Also, is there an advantage using the Gen 3 Heads over the Gen 2 heads. Are the combustion chambers in the head better designed and worth more HP / Tq when ported properly.
I have sold my Gen V and L32 Lim, but if I can get a set of heads for short money, I can rebuild them and install them when I do a LIM gasket change for not a lot of additional money as I have the use of an machine shop to keep my cost's low.
Anybody know who the L67 Head Porting Guru is, or do I have to experiment my self with a flow bench. (If so, then things get time consuming and more expensive)
I can certainly CC the chambers, that's the easy part, but what is the desirable size of the chamber and more importantly the shape of the chamber. If it requires some weld build up and then machining down to the proper shape and size for the optimum flow, HP and Tq I'd like to know who I can contact on this issue before i consider it any further. Thanks for any input anyone might have.. | |

| I'm pretty sure there is no difference in the heads. But any porting work you do is still easier with a second set. With any used heads, be sure to look closely at the valve seats in between the valves for cracking. It's kinda common... | |

| Yeah, the engine I got was free . Guy I know had a '04 GP GTP that had every bolt on you could buy on it. He ended up spinnin a bearing, so he decided just to build a new engine.....so he gave me the old one, with everything. Including a brand new set of ARP head bolts, cam bearings, and crank bearings (Clevite). I think I'll make it a 4.0L It's funny actually, everything he bought is directly from Intense (Diamond Pistons, etc). I thought the heads were the same, just wasn't sure. Rick, I'll do some digging around for the "guru". It'd be nice to know the "proper" port sizes, valve sizes, etc. Deekster, thx for the heads up. | |
