| Hi to all and what a great board! Just found the board last week when my SC went out and I learned how to replace it. But I am still having issues with fuel mileage. I have consistantly gotten 24 mpg on the highway, but lately it has dropped to 19. I know I need to change the fuel filter, but the service engine light is on and I suspect the cat converter, as the power is not good as normal.
Any suggestions welcome, as I love this car and the comfort and style it has

| Hi, and welcome...
I'll go ahead and tell you that you need to get the codes out of your computer to find out exactly what is failing in your fuel system.
Whether it's a half-hour of dealer time or a free service at AutoZone, etc, you need to find out exactly what is lighting the SES light.

| Welcome! You should pickup a cheap code reader at the very least, they come in extremely handy. | |

| Thanks guys for the advice. Went to Autozone and they said it was an egr valve error. I will try and clean it before spend $165 on a new one. | |

Good luck... It might be crud in the valve itself, but it also might be the position sensor, in which case you'll have to buy a new one. BUT, $165 ain't bad for an electric EGR valve! I remember spending $80 years ago for an old vacuum unit.

also o2 sensor might be weak, won't set a code until it dies but in the meantime car will run rich. Albertj

| Cleaned the sensor and reinstalled it and the SES light has gone off. However it usually comes on during the long highway trip between TN and FL, and I will make this trip tomorrow and let you guys know if it reoccurs. Also when I get home I am going to gut the airbox, install 180 degree state and 605 plugs and new wires.
Edit: Hey Guys, made the trip without the SES light coming on and the fuel mileage went up . When I got home, I have now gutted the air box with new air filter, new 180 degree stat, new 605 plugs, new wires, and new fuel filter and changed the oil. So I will see how it does on the return trip tomorrow.
Thanks for the input and guidance.
