| I went to New York City this weekend. Early Sunday morning I was able to park in front of the Guggenheim Museum where I took this picture. This is one of Frank Lloyd Wrights masterpieces. I thought the spirals looked like some of the ellipses in our cars. The light would be better in the afternoon and I would have a preferred an angle where I could get the grill and the spirals in the photo.  Driving in NYC is an experience. Coming out of the Holland Tunnel, a bus and then a truck cut across 2 lanes in front of me to make a left turn. Then cabs were zooming all over the place. They honk at people (like me) who are going slow to figure out where they are. However, by Sunday, I had figured out how te get around by using thru streets. It was suprising quick. I drove down Park Avenue for 50 blocks without having to stop. The lights are sequenced at 35 mph so that is the speed that I averaged. The bumps and lane changes and close proximity to everything made it feel like 80. There are all kinds of construction and stopped trucks and cabs that make you change lanes. It is then that you have to compete with the cabs for space. Thank God and GM that they the cabs do not have Superchargers! | |
