Intake Manifold on New (to me) Riviera Empty
PostSubject: Intake Manifold on New (to me) Riviera   Intake Manifold on New (to me) Riviera EmptySun Apr 17, 2011 11:45 pm

Hi all, im glad to have found this great forum.

I just got a 97 Riviera supercharged.
Currently the car is in great condition--everything works.

I wanted to change the intake manifold and gaskets, as this is a common problem for gm 3.8 engines.

Here is a part I found:
http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-615-180-Intake-Manifold/dp/B000C17G5E/ref=au_pf_pfg_s?ie=UTF8&Model=Riviera|394&n=15684181&s=automotive&Make=Buick|45&Year=1997|1997&newCar=1&carId=004

My question is, are supercharged 3.8 intake manifolds different, from non-supercharged ones? And will the part fit?

Also what are parts I should look to replace on the car?

Thanks in advance.

On the supercharged 3.8L the supercharger IS the intake manifold. These are not prone to failure like the N/A 3.8L.
If you want to dig into the motor you can change the LIM gaskets. Try searching around some in the "write-ups" link at the top of the page for more info and where to start.

Welcome hi

Thanks so much....wow... well that was stupid.
I dont have any experience with superchargers, but i knew something wasn't adding up lol.

Any recommendations on parts to replace that are problem prone??

Thanks again
