| Yeah the taping and polishing definately ate up some time. Luckily I was able to borrow my fathers lapidary dremel he uses for his hobby. It has a 3ft long cable style attachment so you don't have to deal with the bulk of the tool (in this case anyway). Made the stripping of the paint relatively effortless, unfortunately polishing with emery cloth isn't as exciting. Naturally I spent most of my time doing that. The work should pay off in the finished product tho I hope. | |

| There were prob a few layers of paint to go through, since it looked like the reman process just slapped new paint on top of the stock coating. _________________ | |

| I had some trouble getting the pulley off lastnight, the shaft turned out to be a little rusty under the pulley. When I finally got it off I wasn't in the mood to paint. I managed to get the 1st coat on it this morning though and I am very pleased so far. I'm going to give it 1 more light coat for sure, and we'll see where we're at. I will have to handle this this thing with so much care when installing it. SC refinishing project= Painting in the workshop: And Viola!!!! Not perfect, but much better than I dared hope. | |

| Yeah, I stuffed some masking tape in there a little ways. I couldn't push to far or I was worried I might lose it in there. I really didn't know how else to plug it. There was a little blow by but you can still see the grey that Cardone used to paint it in there, so I should be safe. | |

| If there were no running problems before putting the car under the knife, might as well leave the lifters and push-rods alone. The less that gets changed in one go, the less things to rule out when troubleshooting if there are issues. IMO _________________ | |

| Well so much for the clean garage... I had to soak the RR's in oil over night so I had to find suitable containers. I didn't want it to be something we may use again (tupperware) so i found some aluminum pie plates. Thinking to myself, this will be perfect as a throw away method! So i proceeded to pour the oil in. I get up this morning and go out to the garage to check on stuff. Yeah, apparently pie plates do not hold oil. I had it all figured out how I was going to recycle the oil to, because it was a brand new liter of Syntec ($14 per L here). I managed to salvage about 0.5L, so it wasnt a terrible spill, but a nice holiday morning headache none the less. | |

| Damn that sucks! Were the pie plates previously used? If so they are so damn thin that chances are someone accidently cut right thru it when trying to get the pie out lol. I learned just how thin they are a few years ago when I was changing my oil and dumped the used stuff in a turkey pan. I destroyed the bottom of the pan on the drivewaywhen I dragged it out from under the car. Live and learn I guess. Sorry about the mess, good luck getting it all cleaned up. | |

| Thanks man, I hope it won't be to bad to get out, I think the GF may have used them before yeah. Lastnight I had a look at my throttle body and inlet on my original SC from my Riv. They are original equipment, but man the insides are really , REALLY black and dirty. I can only assume this would be normal for a high mileage car? Or is there something else I should be looking at while I have it appart. I can post pics if necessary.

| Black is normal. Your EGR dumps in around there, makes a mess with the oily PCV return added to it. Clean the TB up with a toothbrush and some TB cleaner (sensors out of course). oh and, more progress pics! _________________ | |

| I'll post more pics tonight or tomorrow. I have some things at Grizzly trail Motors atm in the parts washer. I just cleaned, masked off, and painted aluminum all the bolts to match the intake. Gunna make the valve covers look all pretty tonight. Then install the new LIM and caller a day. I will do the RR's tomorrow and install the finished VC's, then button the SC and the rest up for the weekend. UFC (GSP vs. Shields) on Saturday so I need to have nothing on my plate that night. | |
