| Not sure if this is in the right spot... if not I apologize....
Car won't start at all, have power, but not even a turn over. I'm pretty sure it is the neutral safety switch is bad. Not sure if the fact that the dash doesn't register all the gears/incorectly identifies shows that is might be something else?? Car runs fine when it does run (every so often I get REALLY lucky and it will start without any issues/hesitations). Jumping does NOT work.
Secondly... best way to get at the neutral safety switch?? Pleas dumb down location, i'm very handy and have done a lot of car work, but it's all been DIY and technical stuff eludes me. Thanks for looking guys!!!

| Next time you try to start, what's the SECURITY lamp doing? What happens if you wait 3 mins and try starting again? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| What if you shift to Neutral and jiggle the shifter around while holding the key in the crank position? That would identify it as the NSS or not.
The NSS is on the top of the transmission case, approx. under the brake master cylinder and crossover pipe.

| Ok new development... had to move the car from it's spot so for kicks and giggles, tried to start it... It started right up... I don't know if it might be a temp thing or if the NSS is deciding to work atm or what... no problems with the security lamp at all. When we were having issues starting it we "jiggled" the shifter around hoping something would click and heard a very quick/short lived turn over of the engine. Hope I'm making you guys earn your stripes | |

| I had a similar issue a couple weeks ago with my 98. Stopped at a store, came out and it wouldn't turn over. Power ok, but not a sound when I turned the key. Security light was on. I tried a few times. Then waited a couple minutes, including shifting out of, and firmly back into Park. Tired again, fired right up. Haven't had a problem before or since then. | |

| Update: My car hasn't had any issues as of yet (starting) and I've done absolutely nothing to it. It has significantly cooled off. Could the temp. be a factor???? And my dash gear indicator is still messsed up, it doesn't register the car in park, instead flashing. What could be causing this? Thx again all for input. | |

| When I asked you to check the SECURITY lamp, I forgot to mention: check this when you have trouble starting. Next time you have a no start, look over to the left and see if it's illuminated. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |
