| Hi, everybody! At once I am sorry, if my English is not so is good. And so... my name is Anton Lobynichev, I am from St.-Petersburg, Russia. Allow to present, my Riviera, 1995. It was the STEP. Has come true. For a lot of time I couldn't dare on purchase of an exclusive American car. But the dream lived in my heart, and dreams, as it is known, come true … Looked and asked the price not for long. A condition extremely good. Demands replacement spherical, the right forward drive and back brake blocks. All the rest is touched! The muffler is new! The motor is alike swiss watсh! Salon in very worthy condition. In the spring and to a body I will make cosmetics repair (anything critical, only vandals tried to climb and a door have damaged). My best friend in delight! My wife in delight! Gapers in the street have broken necks considering my car! I am happy! | |

| Nice lights! You should find out where they came from. There might be a market for them on this site. _________________ | |

| At first sight, I thought you're car looked like mine. Your car has an excellent paint job. My car was a repair. If I was able to paint it like yours, I would have kept my painted hood. I agree with all, we LOVE the headlights. I makes the car look newer. The gold and maroon/burgandy two tone paint is by far may favorite. It looks beautiful. | |

"HELLA" optics.
The headlights might have been done by the import company to satisfy motor vehicle laws. Please ask them about the headlights. By the way from June 2012 there will be ban on vehicles with red turn signals in rear, I understand. What you might want to try is putting green LED bulbs in the red lenses to see if you get yellow light out (probably do). What we have to find is LED that when steady on is red but is green when blinking. We already have LED that is white steady on turns yellow (amber) when blinking (see this link ---> http://autolumination.com/switchback.html) they are called "switchback" bulbs. So yeah a "Switchback" that turns green instead of amber or yellow should do it. Can not use a yellow bulb, a yellow bulb will still look red (well maybe orange) behind red lens. Incandescent bulb behind green lens will not work as well as green LED, it will be orange too. Blue LED will show magenta not yellow. So I guess it is up to you to experiment, but I believe if you put green LED behind red taillight lens you should get yellow out. Albertj

| Interesting info, albertj. I found this link:
http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/report-nhtsa-to-mandate-amber-turn-signals/
Seems to make good sense, but I could not find any firm data on which states will mandate this change, and when. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

I just kinda wonder what green wavelength I have to hit to get a taillight to show yellow. Have to calculate that and reckon if the available green LEDs get close.

Using the rule of additive color mixture, The correct green would be the yellowish green known as "green primary". This is focused near the 550 nm wavelength. Green primary is the purest, most intense green than can be produced by a computer screen (R=0, G=255, B=0). Its approximate hue is indicated in this model: _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

Yeah but is the spec for taillight red red primary? Red is between 650 and 720 nm. I just don't know the spec for taillights. I am thinking there is no wavelength spec and with tungsten bulbs it's all over the place anyway so for practical purposes you're talking an orangey-red of 610 to 650 nm. Red LEDs are going to come in around 660. So we might wanna push that green toward blue (like a traffic signal) instead of toward yellow (like lime green). What do you think? A couple of the places making LED bulbs also sell the parts to make your own from discrete components - might be worth prototyping. Green LEDs - I am thinking we are really looking at the 520 - 530 nm range for them based on the orangey-red of the taillights. Again, please, what do you think?
