As I was searching my pics, I was surprised to see just how many cars we've bought and sold in the last two years.
My wife's red Reatta-SOLD , My wife's Jeep Wrangler-SOLD, my Toyota Rav4-SOLD
Oh well...

I do the same with my instruments. It becomes an acquisitionally driven disease!
But Great Googly Moogly!
You'be probably been over it a thousand times but, how seamless a swap was it? Not as if I personally would do it, I've got a guy for that sort of thing haha. But electronically w/ the touchscreen and dash e-gauges etc. Worth the trouble? I'm hoping it is my old man is bent on doing this someday

I wish I could say that "I" did it, but not so. I'm only good at cosmetics and furthermore I really don't like to get greasy...LOL !!! I paid a shop in El Paso, TX to do the work and quite frankly, I don't think it was worth the expense. Total cost for engine and swap was almost $3k. The shop did a good job with the electronics as I have had no problems. (I will take a beating on this car if/when I sell it).

Performance is improved although I don't have numbers to show the gains. I'm not a speed freak. As far as reliability goes, I would say it's just as good for the type driving I do. I put less than 3k miles on the car all of last year and only about 500 mi since the swap. Gas mileage seems to have improved a bit.

Good to know. Chances are my dad would probably do all the work himself so cost isn't as big an issue and as he's retiring next year, time isn't either. He's lookin at the sIII though so we'll have to see. Perhaps you and I should convince him to just buy yours instead

I will say this about the Reatta...it's a head turner. I've had far more compliments and interested inquiries about it than I've had about the Riv.

I was lookin for a reatta before my riv but there weren't any on the sale block at the time. Someday I vow to have one. Maybe if my dad gets one then someday I'll buy it off him I like the idea though. Riv roadtrip! Leave with a riv, come back with a tagalong reatta. I like it Haha depends on how long you've still got it for. I know he's lookin right now and probably gonna be looking more seriously in the coming year or two. Don't hold your breath but who knows haha

Speaking of the Reatta, here's an interesting video that might be of interest to ALL Buick lovers: PART 1 of 3:

That was fun, thanks for posting. I have to play devil's advocate here. I loved the Reatta, and if GM had released the WildCat turbo version with a manual, I would probably find a way to own one. But they didn't. Reatta was ahead of its time for sure, but the touch screen dash is a bit complicated for my taste, very techy. There's something to be said for simplicity.
Agree the Reatta is better than the Allante in most ways, but not every way. I feel the Allante was truly a better looking car. And what's with the comparison with the DeLorian? 90% of cars ever made are better than that POS, seriously.
The Reatta was and is a great car, and what a bargain for that guy at $2500. Will it be worth 25k or 250k in 50 years? I suppose it's worth the gamble at that price.

I think it will be worth much more in 50 years, but so shall all other numbers be larger. I like the Reatta, but it's form, particularly the interior, is based on a 90 degree angle. Not so the Riviera that caught my interest and is responsible for me gravitating to this site. I'm hoping the Riv is the classic in my future. Box shapes aren't found all that much in museums, eh?

There are some attractive and collectible cars that are edgy, for example:

No! They fabricated these Picasso things, glued treads on them and proceeded to beat the hair off a Ford PU. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/mythbusters/videos/square-wheels-angle-2.htm
