| yeah, so how much would it cost to powdercoat an L67 and supercharger? is it worth it, how dust/dirt resistant is it?
I might one day, if I ever do anything to my internals get my entire block powdercoated, and attempt a clean engine bay. I'd love to do that one day!

| Just saw this - almost a year later - sorry The thing with powdercoating is you need to heat it up to 400 degrees to get it to melt/cure, This means it has to be solid metal - - if there are any rubber parts attached, or anything else, that can't handle that kind of heat, you can't do it. So everything would have to be stripped bare. I have powdercoated an intake manifold, valve covers, brackets, etc., but haven't had the occasion to get my hands on a stripped-bare head or block to try it on. It would definitely be slick, though. More durable than paint. | |

| Mine was painted in high-temp engine paint. Probably < 5% the price of powder coating.
Powder coating would involve a lot of prep (masking), or machining after it was applied. This would likely add a lot of cost. Parts need to be heated before coating. Can an iron block be heated evenly and quickly enough to apply a consistent coat? I don't know. Seems like a challenge for a very large oven.
I know it could be done for a price. Don't know what the quality level of the finish would be. How many would be game for a $1600 rebuild + an extra $500 for powder coat? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^
