95 vs the newer Empty
PostSubject: 95 vs the newer   95 vs the newer EmptySat Mar 03, 2012 1:00 am

New to this forum I have to ask what the major differences are between the 95 and the newer Rivs. I have a 95 now to go with my 63 and I have lots of questions. It has many issues that I am sure someone may be able to help me solve. I will start with something simple like why don't the interior lights come when I open the doors?

OK No takers on that 1st post yet so I will step it up a bit. As far as the interior lights are concerned they come on when I turn the light switch so I know they work. They do not work when I open the door. What activates them when the door is opened? Next, Is the trunk supposed to open when I hit the trunk button on the door? It does not. Anyone had that problem? Next: it is winter here in Maine so perhaps this will change with spring and summer but whenever I open the truck there is a huge amount of moisture on the inside of the truck cover and it is usually dripping wet. What would cause that? I have six cars and it does not occur on any of the others. Next: my cruise control does not work. How do I check it out? I have a shop manual and I have checked the fuses.
This Riv has only 60K on it. It came from Florida with all the maintenance paperwork in the glove box so I called the lady who owned it to see if she had any of these problems with it and she assured me she had not.

If you open the trunk and look on either side, there is a seam, outboard of the weather stripping. That seam was leaking on my car. I used clear silicone to seal it, and my trunk has been dry ever since.

The big difference about the '95s is that the Supercharged model had a Series I 3800, the N/A model has a Series II 3800, and both have OBD 1.5. '96 and newer all have Series II 3800s and ODB-2.
