| Welcome to the forum! The 4T60E is the stock transmission for the 1995 Rivs. I'm not sure on available aftermarket trannies for it, but if you have the $ anything is possible in theory. | |

| Hey there guys, new here.
I bought a nice fixer upper 95 Riv with the S/C 3800. 128K on her.
The car runs nicely, minor things all over the place but the glaring issue I need to get fixed was that the car only has reverse gear on transmission.
My buddy had a 95 Park Avenue Ultra with the same setup and his trans went out at 50K or so.
I am trying to figure out what the best course of action is. Rebuild? Replace? Money is kind of a factor, but I figure replacing it with another junkyard trans will just net me the same eventual problem.
Thanks! | |

| The trans is unique to that car only. Save up for a rebuild is probably your best bet. | |

| There is a way to replace the solenoids on the 95. I dont know how but it's been done. | |

| Yeah, except if it needed new solenoids, I'd figure there would be an SES light for that.
I'm figuring it probably needs to be rebuilt, as much as that sucks.

| I'm having it rebuilt next week. Is there anything else that should be done while I'm down there?
I was thinking transmission mount and rear main seal at least.

| Right now I'm looking into an issue to see if a dying battery or thermistor is the cause of the trans not having drive gear. I know if the car is in limp mode you should be able to get 2nd and 3rd gears, in addition to reverse. I didn't test this before.
Putting in the new batt tonight, will see if that fixes things up. I would be freaking ELATED if that was the case.

| I picked up that OEM battery, checked the transmission - none of the forward gears work at all. So I guess it's replacement time.
Also I found some odd wiring in the dash fuse panel. Any of you guys know what the hell this might be? Looks like some really bad splicing.

| It's been awhile since I posted, but the car is still in the shop getting a bunch of stuff done to it that my mechanic found.
Transmission replaced, engine cradle replaced (rotted out), belt pullies and tensioners, Accessory and Supercharger belts replaced, oil pan gasket replaced, rear main seal replaced, AC leak diagnosed and fixed, AC recharged, oil changed, exhaust repaired, starter replaced.
Lol, so much for a cheap fix.

| After all that I still haven't driven it much since I found out the brakes suck big time, and also the brake lines are rotting out, so gonna have to get that fixed up soon. | |
