I was wondering what I should do with this old block I have. Its been sitting in my shed for 2yrs without top half of the motor on it. Do I have to do anything to it before I put it back together? I have all the gaskets need but do I have to treat the block for anything?

I would say to probably get it machined at a shop have them check the cylinders for wear or rust and any of the mating surfaces. Also, while it's apart, this is a fantastic time to replace the bearings and things of that nature, get it hot tanked, etc.

Have the block serviced with Magnaflux to identify any cracks or other problems:

Well since I have to do all of that. Are there stronger internals for the series 1? Is there a bigger crank for the series 1? I dont want to over do it but if I could I would give it a 3.575 stroke instead of 3.400 stroke. Give it a little more torque and still have a lil top end.
