I going to replace my aic. The service manual tells me to "re-set" it. What exactly does this mean?

Re-set = push the pintle back in then drive car for a while. It will run a little rough when you first start it up. Don't push that pintle in until you clean the IAC, or are installing a replacement... Replacement IACs usually come with this instruction on a package insert.

Thanks Albertj. Now that I have the Riv up and running ( the air is still blowing cold), I figure I better work on getting the '88 Toro engine high rev and/or cut-out fixed using your suggestions regarding cleaning the MAF. I'll remove, clean and re-set the IAC pintle. Once this problem is fixed I have to replace the a/c compressor, drier and expansion orifice as I did on my '95 Riv.
