of course you could but have you really thought about the problems that would introduce? ..point is, to do it right you have to also have a way to lock out starting if the car is in gear, a way to latch the ignition circuit on when the car has started, a way to command the car off if it is on, and a way to defeat the pushbutton starter if the button pusher is not the driver (that is, either a physical key, a keypad interlock, or an RFID tag with associated circuitry to lock it out).
