PostSubject: New SIlver Arrow owner   New SIlver Arrow owner EmptyMon Oct 08, 2012 1:14 pm

Hey everyone. I recently aquired a 99 Silver Arrow, Wondering how much this car is worth. If I should drive it or store it. 99 SA 129/200 17,800 original miles. I have both key chains the car cover and the pen that came from the dealer. SA floor matts are still in the plastic in the trunk. The vehicle is almost perfect. Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated.

If your specific mission is to preserve one of the last examples of an 8th gen Riv, the one you have would be the ideal candidate, imo. That's a special and admirable commitment, as long as you have no exception to make a profit someday.

However, there are a few other cars from the same period and of similar price that could be more desirable to collectors in the future - makes and models beyond the Buick line - so if you're just looking at it as a general investment, I don't think it would be worth storing the Riv for that reason. Drive the car and maintain it well; should give a long life of reliable service. Keep it garaged and out of the snow, the body will probably last 15-20 years, maybe more. Outside all year, driving in salt, 10-15 years at least.

I have seen a couple advertised recently with less than 20K miles, one was asking $18K and the other was asking $25K. I kind of keep my low mileage one stored, 72K, and am driving the other, 197K, back and forth to work 180 miles daily. I wouldn’t let my good one go for less than $14-$16K, of course that’s just me and I am not interested in selling! I took it to the BCA meet in Concord this year and scored 395 out of 400, even though they missed a few things I know about, it is in very good shape. If I could find one with that low of miles on it at the right price I would get it and store it, but once again that is just me. There might eventually be a market for one but it would be a good long time, I’m sure, before it “might” bring what it sold for new! Good luck with whatever you decide.

I you do decide to keep it there is a man in IA that keeps a SA Registry, not sure if you have heard about it or not. Let me know if you are interested.
