| Hi everyone, (not sure if this is the right place to post this, sorry if it isn't)
I just traded some stuff i had around for a high milage '97 Riviera, It's paint needs to be redone but theres pretty much no rust on her. Her main problem is that the inside Reeks of gas, the previos owner had the fuel pump replaced and the guy didn't even secure the pump in the tank he just wedged a block of wood between the pump and the access cover. She then brought it to a friend who glued the gasket to the pump and then screwed the pump into the gas tank.
Now that doesn't sound like they knew what they were doing, at least to me, and the last thing that I noticed myself was that the pump has three ports on it and only two have hoses coming off of them. Am I missing a hose? or did some models not use that port? (of the three its the middle one that has nothing connected to it)
Any help is Greatly Apperciated!!
Thanks

| I think you need a replacement tank and a factory service manual. Both should be found on Bay. For a tank try ed morad (search this site).
Welcome.

| Dave, Yes, Ed Morad. I would look into that open port on the fuel pump. That shouldn't be. Might be wrong pump, or you are missing a connection. replacing the tank is a big job. You can screw the pump into the tank, and if it is done correctly, it will work fine. There is a thread on fuel pump replacement. If the pictures are still there, they may help. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| Here's a picture from the pump thread, it does look like the middle port is open.

| that locking ring isn't in the car and the metal tabs that the ring goes into are rusted away, would getting a new tank fix this? are the tabs part of the tank? Ironically theres hardly any rust on the car accept for those stupid tabs | |
