PostSubject: Re: INTENSE vs. ZZP SC Pulleys   INTENSE vs. ZZP SC Pulleys - Page 2 EmptyTue May 06, 2008 7:04 am

In the 3800 community the two pulley's are considered interchangeable. Both fit either companies hub and both seem to work the same.

I have had much better service and always gotten the right part the first time in the right quantity from Intense, ZZP has counting issue my experience.

PostSubject: Re: INTENSE vs. ZZP SC Pulleys   INTENSE vs. ZZP SC Pulleys - Page 2 EmptyTue May 06, 2008 8:56 am

Things to consider:

- INTENSE will no longer install pulleys for free on G-Body cars.

- ZZP uses a painted finish, which will wear n the spot the belt contacts.

- ZZP mounting screws are superior to the INTENSE ones.

- The RIviera's pulley arrangement & belt routing makes belt slip much less a concern than with W-body cars.

It doesn't appear as though smoothflow pulleys are labeled though. this could get confusing if future modifications are made.

I have a couple of Nate's (Smoothflow) pulleys, a 3.4 and a 3.8, don't recall if they are marked or not, thought they were. He will make pulleys to interchange with any other mfgr's mps kit.

INTENSE pulleys (MPS) were originally not marked. My 3.4" is plain; I like it better that way for some reason.

damn.....I just snapped the M8 stud and its stuck in the shaft....
no way to remove it without drilling and taping....

...and now my belt or pulleys are creaking like a bunch of toads...

the belt is 3/4 of the way on the tensioner now though....

...when I get my new tensioner, can I put a couple of washers behind it to align the belt better?

Intense is supposed to be lined up on the inside , IIRC.

I would not use washers on the tensioner pulley.

Tony,

I put the belt on the inside, but it jumps over one rib, so it sits in the middle.....could it just be a worn tensioner pulley?

Check the SC belt's alignment on the crank pulley.

I replaced the tensioner pulley....so far so good....

Put the ZZP 3.5 on and the belt's running on the middle ribs now and running "almost" in center of the tensioner pulley....

...and on that note, If your going to change your supercharger pulley don't dick around...change the tensioner pulley to....it's $20.00 bucks and a 5 minute job....

Way ahead of you, AAron. The belt seems healthy, and it aligns with the idler and crank pulleys...

Not counting "mixed marriages" between Intense and ZZP pulleys and hubs, I think that other folks just didn't seat their hubs all the way flush with the end of the blower-shaft. I checked mine a couple of times while pressing it on, and I kept cranking until the snout-shaft bottomed out against the washer on the end of the pulley-presser-nut...

Mine was installed by INTENSE. Wonder why they didn't push it on all the way?

Could also be that you used a ZZP hub instead of an INTENSE one.
